WOW! Clara Rockmore resurrected – a prodigy with a Jazz sensibility and an aw-shucks charm. The walking bass bit was astonishing and funny – like watching an air guitar contest, but it actually works!
It’s a damnably difficult device to master, and only a few people have bothered to try. Amazing that someone has tackled it in this day of computer-sampled any-instrument-you-like. The Theremin is a real Sorcerer’s Apprentice kind of instrument; like a dream where you conjure music out of thin air, with only your hands.
Thanks for informing me about this amazing musician. I was afraid serious Theremin work had passed with Ms. Rockmore. What a delight!
Theramin
Playing this instrument looks like sign language. This gal can play the Theremin, at David Thompson.
