I found Claire Fox’s contribution the most interesting. It’s been a while since I moved in
leftist circles but when I did I was pretty sure that the aim was to improve lot of the disadvantaged rather than telling them that they are just fine the way they are, and to try and better themselves would be a betrayal of their true selves. But I also thought that being on the left meant opposing the imposition of clerical fascism so what would I know.

Thanks for that. It’s always seemed to me rather curious how the unequal distribution of athletic ability is widely celebrated, unremarkably so, yet the unequal distribution of intellectual ability often meets with unease and evasion. And often from many of the same people who would applaud a person’s ability to launch themselves high into the air while looking fabulous.
