The Passing of the Hat

November 27, 2014 44 Comments

Patrons are reminded that this rickety barge is kept afloat by the kindness of strangers. If you’ve been remotely entertained by what goes on here and would like to help this dubious endeavour remain buoyant a while longer, there’s an orange button below with which to monetise any love. Debit and credit cards are of course accepted. Think of it as a magazine subscription, a way to keep abreast of the various, never-ending agonies of the left.

You can, for instance, learn why food should be made much more expensive and more difficult to find. For the poor, of course. And why being handed a plate with food on it induces comedic fretting. Or why something radical must be done about litter inequality. Or learn what happens when intersectional feminism meets prosthetic comedy buttocks. Or perhaps you’d just like to stay attuned to the latest developments in the intensely cerebral world of performance art. Artists, remember, are our betters, and so modest with it.

A monthly subscription option is also available, top left, for those who prefer to show their love at regular intervals. Additionally, any Amazon shopping done via the search widget top right, or for Amazon US via this link, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you. And hey, Christmas is coming.

For newcomers wishing to know more about what’s been going on here for the last seven years or so, almost eight in fact, the reheated series and greatest hits are good places to start. And do take a moment to poke through the discussion threads. The posts are intended as starting points, not full stops, and the comments are where much of the good stuff is waiting to be found.

Again, thanks for the support, the comments, and the company.

It Will Only Encourage Him

August 28, 2014 37 Comments

Patrons are reminded that this rickety barge is kept afloat, just about, by the kindness of strangers. If you’ve been remotely entertained over the years – say, by things like this, or this, or these – and would like to help this dubious endeavour remain buoyant a while longer, there’s an orange button below with which to monetise any love. Debit and credit cards are of course accepted. Think of it as a magazine subscription. A way to keep abreast of the performing arts, which enrich our lives so much, along with the latest political insights of our left-leaning betters. Additionally, any Amazon shopping done via the search widget top right, or for Amazon US via this link, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you.

For newcomers wishing to know more about what’s been going on here for the last seven years, and the deep cultural nourishment it brings to the world, the reheated series and greatest hits are good places to start.

Again, thanks for the support, the comments, and the company.

Update, via the comments. Those wishing to make regular contributions can use the options below.

Insert Coin for Dancing Monkey

May 31, 2014 60 Comments

Patrons are reminded that this rickety barge is kept afloat by the kidneys of strangers. No, wait, the kindness of strangers. If you’d like to help it remain buoyant for a while longer, there’s an orange button below with which to monetise any love for this low establishment. Debit and credit cards accepted. Additionally, any Amazon shopping done via the search widget top right, or for Amazon US via this link, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you. For newcomers wishing to know more about what goes on here, the reheated series and greatest hits are good places to start.

Widgets and Sundries

April 30, 2014 11 Comments

For reasons that escape me, the Amazon US search widget was making the blog inaccessible for readers using Chrome or Firefox. I’ve removed the offending item and replaced it with a text link just like this one, below the Amazon UK widget, top right, which seems to work fine. Again, my thanks to all who are using the widgets and links to do their shopping, each time earning a small fee for me at no extra cost to you. It’s much appreciated. Obviously I quiver in anticipation at the prospect of your comments, but it’s the filthy lucre that keeps this barge afloat.

Someone Bought a Led Zeppelin Album

March 29, 2014 17 Comments

Newcomers are advised that the greatest hits have been updated. If you’d like some idea of what goes on here, it’s a good place to start. As is the reheated series. There are nuggets to be had, not least in the comments.

Also, a note of thanks to all who’ve been using the Amazon search widgets to do their shopping. Any purchase made via the widgets, or via this link (for Amazon US) and this link (Amazon UK), results in a small fee your host at no extra cost to you. Readers are of course welcome to make a donation via PayPal. Think of it as a magazine subscription, a way to keep your host banging on month after month. Or just monetised love.
