Insert Coin for Dancing Monkey (2)
Patrons are reminded that this rickety barge is kept afloat by the kindness of strangers. If you’d like to help it remain buoyant for a while longer, there’s an orange button below with which to monetise any love for this low establishment. Debit and credit cards are of course accepted. For those wishing to express their love regularly, there’s a monthly subscription option top left. Additionally, any Amazon shopping done via the search widget top right, or for Amazon US via this link, results in a small fee for your host at no extra cost to you.
For newcomers wishing to know more about what’s been going on here for the last eight years, the reheated series and greatest hits are good places to start. There you’ll find coverage of the high-minded arts, along with the blistering insights of leftist intellectuals, and regular bulletins from the world of academia, where WrongThought™ is purged for a fluffier tomorrow and where lust is corrected with feminist pornography. And do take a moment to poke through the discussion threads. The posts are intended as starting points, not full stops, and the comments are where much of the good stuff is waiting to be found.
Again, thanks for the support, the comments, and the company.
David, thanks for much entertainment.
Great blog.
Tip jar hit.
Have monetized my love. 🙂
Done. Love your blog David. It’s the only one that gets its shortcut saved to the Bookmarks Bar and not relegated deep in the Other Bookmarks folder.
Thanks for introducing me to the world of feminist pornography. *hits tip jar*
Thanks for introducing me to the world of feminist pornography.
I think you have to approach it as a challenge.
Inserts coin, stands back to admire monkey dance.
*tinkle*
That was meant to be the sound of coins, btw.
What? ME? Support YOU? Fah! After all the rotten, despicable things you’ve said about artists and your cultural superiors?!?!
HAR HAR HAR!!!
Here, Dave – this will be my contribution to your blog. I assume you will be properly respectful and deferential to the art community this time:

Thanks for eight years of good reading. Tip jar hit.

Previously noted, I believe . . .
Some quid fo’ yo’
Speaking as we were of the left’s post-election woes, here’s Guardian contributor Clare Pollard telling us how people who vote Conservative are “self-evidently evil,” and how “most people ended up voting against their own interests” – i.e., against socialism – because “the voters were deliberately fed distraction, distortion and misinformation, making it very difficult for them to make an informed choice.” Again, it’s interesting just how often the electorate are sidelined by their self-imagined superiors as little more than rubes and dupes, hoodwinked by dark forces. And again, Ms Pollard doesn’t pause to consider the possibility that disdaining voters as unthinking, befuddled and “self-evidently evil” – as happens quite a lot, not least in the Guardian – might have something to do with the subsequent election outcome.
When not sharing her wisdom with Guardian readers, Ms Pollard is a poet and teacher.
Via PootBlog.
Also, further to this, which I urge you to read, Tim Blair takes a look at Australian arts funding. I fear some kind of parody threshold has been crossed. Thank goodness that kind of thing couldn’t happen here.
I’ve tinkled in your jar.
I’ve tinkled in your jar.
It’s still warm.
Thanks to all who’ve chipped in so far. It’s much appreciated.
Subscribed. Been lurking for ages. Great blog, David.
I have expressed my love for your low establishment.
Tipped, Mr T.
Done, happily.
The jar. It has been tipped.
I consistently laugh longer and harder when reading your blog than most of the other ones I read, and I figure that ought to be worth something. Certainly it’s the only psychologically healthy response to some of this stuff.
Coins inserted. 🙂
it’s the only psychologically healthy response to some of this stuff.
Yes, laughter seems fitting. Provided of course they don’t have the power they would like.
Just contributed. But to clarify: where again is this rare endangered Bohemian Fluffy Bunny you’re working to protect?
Happy to. Sterling work.
Well someone at the Grauniad’s read some blogs and suddenly realised… OH Is that what our (the left’s) problem is.

Reading between the lines it’s almost an “It’s all over for Labour” article!
Reading between the lines it’s almost an “It’s all over for Labour” article!
Thing is, if you could somehow subtract all of the smugness and self-congratulation, all that obnoxious social positioning, all that scolding of WrongThought™, what would the Guardianista class do? It’s a bit like saying, “If only you could erase the defining and fundamental aspects of your personality, you’d be fractionally more attractive.”
Tip jar hit. I always pay for value. That way I get more of it. 😉
And apparently you limeys have your own currency, something labeled a “GBP”, I dunno, I’m a yank.
Perfect example: Where else can you find artistes performing in defibrillator booths at the dounty fair?
I ask ya.
Mothergirl: (STILL a favorite)
Standing Hold, Defibrillator Booth, MDW Fair, Chicago, IL
Some kindness from a long-time lurker. 🙂
Ugh

Tip jar hit in spirit, i.e. not hit. One day, perhaps, when the big money comes in
Tipped. Keep up the good work, David.

Yours is one of my favourite blogs, David. Jar duly tipped.
