So, to recap: Professed educator (and by implication, lofty moral being) endangers other road users by faffing about with her phone while driving. Then, when stopped on account of this behaviour, doesn’t have her license, and immediately and repeatedly accuses the police officer of being a murderer, before indulging in a gleefully racist outpouring.
Much of her behaviour seems intended to provoke – perhaps with an eye to the glories of victimhood.

I’d love to see her “defense” in traffic court. Especially if the judge is Hispanic.
But I think public shaming is needed. That woman is quite willing to record the murderous deputy, so should she not accept the same? Show her face and show her name. Clearly she believes her actions are justified so what’s the harm in allowing her to find out other people’s reactions from a different camera angle?

Two questions or clarifications.
So much of the video is blurred out that there isn’t much to see. But from an unblurred glimpse of the arm and the hand, it seems to me that the driver is black. Is that correct and taken for granted? Or is the story going to get amalgamated into the Karen category?
When the Fox News heading says that the driver is mocking the Hispanic ethnicity of the police officer, this isn’t correct. Her mental association is (i) cops => murderous intentions, (ii) murderous intentions => white, (iii) Hispanic cop => trying to win approval from whites by murdering blacks. The insult against the cop is personal, but the ethnic slur (and it’s a severe one) is against whites. It looks like maybe she thought the cop was white until she saw his name on the ticket because that was when the language switched from murderer to “you’ll never be white”.
And by the way, if the cop was white and she was only insulting him for belonging to a race of murderers, would that have made it to Fox News? Or is it only on Fox News because a black lady teacher pulling intersectional (not to mention class) rank on Hispanic cop shows that Dems R the real racists?

As usual, I am mostly sorry for the poor child who is being raised by an essentially psychotic, manipulative mother. The woman takes a simple traffic stop encounter and tries to gaslight it into death threats. But I am puzzled by her end game. Are her peers going to look at the video, from whatever angle, and agree that she was being threatened with death or any violence whatsoever ? In what alternate reality does she come out as a victim ?

Again, the dogmatism and posturing are so contrived, so removed from normal proprieties and reciprocal expectations, that attempts at honest discussion seem largely futile. Certainly unrewarding.

As we’ve seen many times, woke psychology appeals to a person’s vanity, and its practitioners are usually very status-conscious and largely driven by in-group social positioning. The dynamic is therefore competitive, and therefore self-ratcheting, and therefore prone to dogmatism, extremism and breathless fantasy. It isn’t clear what any upper limit might be, and devotees do not appear to be impeded by embarrassment or ludicrousness.

It amuses me that anti-police activists agitated so loudly for police bodycams with unaltered footage, and yet all that’s done is demonstrate that most of these interactions with police are entirely instigated and escalated by the perps.

I must admit I too would probably be annoyed at the gravy train screeching to a halt. Although I do hope I’d express my annoyance in a more dignified manner.
People whose lives are consumed with finding microaggressions and milking the gravy train to make it pay do not know how to behave in a dignified manner. For all we know, “behaving in a dignified manner” is a sign of white supremacy, a marker of colonization, and something that must be disrupted and decolonized toot sweet.

I read another report that said he had two body cams, a departmental cam and his own cam. Not sure which is true. It seems odd to wear two body cams unless he doesn’t trust his department to have his back.

I haven’t much of an opinion on the BaseCamp meltdown. On the one hand, it seems like the most toxic employees have removed themselves from the company. On the other hand, so has the most sensible senior executive and technical lead.
I remember 37signals mostly for their iconoclastic approach to product management in the Web 2.0 days; of course, “iconoclastic” does not equate to “right”. One of their bon mots was “don’t bother to track customer reports of bugs or feature requests; if it’s really important it’ll come up again and again and you won’t be able to ignore it”.

Even if he doesn’t have a second body cam, it’d be prudent to give the impression he did. Then if the police department/ main stream media contemplates getting cute with an edited video, they risk getting badly wrong-footed. And sued into the ozone layer for having done so.

IIRC, in CA a teaching credential needs to be renewed every 5 years. Wonder what the status of hers is. Has her name been published yet?
