I Miss The Concept Of Shame
At risk of sounding old fashioned, if I were a parent and my child were being suspended with such regularity, I’d have questions about their behaviour.

I mean, if my child behaved in such a way as to result in their being suspended no fewer than thirty-seven times, I think I might be embarrassed, perhaps even ashamed. I don’t think I’d regard it as an obvious basis for a political flex or an air of self-righteousness.
While trying to deny other parents a chance to get their own children the hell away from kids like mine.
Lifted from the comments, which you’re reading, of course.
Also, open thread. Share ye links and bicker.

And the kid’s name was Dindu.
Is Nuffin the patronymic or matronymic?
Also the reason her kid was suspended fewer times this year than last year is very likely the new rules whereby the bad behavior of the melanin-enhanced is ignored, lest the school be called raaacist.
They don’t have to obey the law because they have Magical Melanin.
I think it’s fair to say it wasn’t the best date ever.
I’m going for her first grader getting suspended more than once because she has no shame.
Also, who the hell records their dates?
I suppose it’s possible that this was staged.
That thing that never happens….
That first grader learned her ghetto behavior from her mother and other relatives.
That would be this chap.
As I said at the time, you have to marvel at people who are willing to rely on the promise of an unhinged 27-year-old man who is convinced he’ll be perceived as an adolescent girl.
And who uses that pretence to creep on children. Repeatedly.
And again, note the authorities dutifully mouthing his fabulist pronouns, thereby enabling his delusion.
Hey, it worked for a lot of “migrants” in Europe.
It’s Saturday night and I’m short-listing things for next Friday’s Ephemera.
You wish you had my glamorous life.
On the upside, there is beer.
That vibrant culture that inspired the first grader.
Yet more of that vibrant culture.

Many of these are, but that doesn’t actually matter; women are incapable of distinguishing between reality and fantasy, so enough women will see this and re-enact it for real for social media clout that the damage is still done.
The real damage is that real or not, it’s still propaganda and even if you know something is propaganda, the constant wash of propaganda still affects you.
Clearly the “Success Academy” is performing some sort of “ism” for behaviour that would be mainstream in the public school system.
Worth playing then?
I’ve been entertained. Imagine a massively tarted-up Space Invaders, with elaborately customisable and visually amusing weapons. Oh, and lots of OCD chip configuration. If you like that kind of thing.

I was threatened with the strap in Kindergarten. I received it just about every week from Grade 1 to Grade 8. My mother didn’t go out and carry a sign. She said that I deserved it. Other than a distrust of authority, I suffer no lasting effects…years later, my Principal looked pissed off when I crossed his path. I had a new car and a couple of Nikons hanging around my neck…
I expect that a “behave or get expelled” policy is one of the reasons that some people hate charter schools. The bigger reason, of course, is that charter schools threaten the public school/teachers union cartel.
Revenge is indeed a dish best served cold.
When people are told, and believe, that everything bad in their lives is someone else’s fault, they’re incapable of grasping the concept that, just maybe, their actions have consequences. Of course, they also know all the well-meaning do-gooders (i.e., leftists) will always side with them regardless of their behavior.
This kind of behavior is SOP for some parents. They have a misguided notion of what being a good boy or a good girl means. You see it regularly when their kids are caught in bad behavior, criminal activity, or when juveniles, teens, or youths are running riot. Then the parents say the kids are just blowing off steam, or blame a lack of social activities (government provided, of course). Oh, their kid loves his grandma, always has a smile, is always their for someone, etc. Do you think it’s possible your kid might act differently when he’s not around you?
What’s that open quotation mark doing at the top of the sign? It’s just … suspended there.
What fraction of “migrants” should be summarily thrown off tall buildings?
It would be nice if included a photo of the felon to be,
Baby’s first mug shot.
Heh. That was bugging me too but I tried to forget about. Thanks. Though technically…technically…it’s a 99/close quote at the top…which leaves me nonplussed…or is it double-plus ungood? Now I’m not going to sleep a wink…
The mother of the six-year-old who shot his teacher had been required to stay at his school to supervise him because he was so out-of-control. She did a bang-up job.
Clearly this was a protest against proper punctuation which is a product of systemic racism, colonialism, yte supremacy, and transphobia.

Jerry Coyne on pretentious land acknowledgements:
Barring neurotic lefties and their weird compulsions, I’m not sure why anyone would sincerely want to say, “I’m sorry for my ancestors building an actual civilisation on your ancestors’ Stone-Age wilderness,” but hey.
Or as Mr Coyne puts it, “Land acknowledgments do not improve society the way paved roads do.”
Then he’s a fool or a liar.
Well, the fawning over primitive tribes who stole each other’s territory via slaughter and enslavement – the Haudenosaunee’s raids against the Huron, the Crow Creek massacre, the countless incidents of mass scalping and triumphal dismemberment of adults and children – is a bit much.
Not an obvious basis for piety. And the insincerity, the sheer dishonesty of it, is hard to miss.
But hey, lefties gonna be lefties.
And in foreseeable doom news.
Yes, because the Great Spirit gave all those Native American tribes permission to conquer and genocide those who came before. /sarcasm
John McWhorter does sometimes make sense, but he is a lefty and thus prone to foolishness. (I’ve watched a few of his joint podcasts with Glenn Loury. Sometimes he makes sense. Sometimes not so much.)
An off-hand question for everyone: Linguist McWhorter traces black English speech patterns to Africa. Has he ever addressed Thomas Sowell’s contention that “black English” derives to some significant degree from redneck speech which in turns derives from regional British speech?
Let’s do land acknowledgements that African and South Asian immigrants in the UK are on land traditionally owned by the Angles and Saxons.
