Different Kinds Of Beings
We’ve often discussed the psychology of criminals, especially violent criminals, and the determination of many progressives to superimpose motivations entirely different from those that are actually in play. See, for instance, these rather vivid examples, in which carjackers are more than happy to reveal what makes them indulge in carjacking.
Needless to say, it ain’t desperation.
I mention this because some fashionable and quite wrong-headed assertions are being aired, with an all too familiar imperviousness:

Efforts at correction ensue, including items that are brief but not irrelevant, and objections to the assumptions of such go-to pieties:
@justjargons That is an insult to the millions of poor people who don’t commit crimes. Shame on you.
— Thomas Dolislager🇺🇸✝️🪖 (@HonestWorldview) October 19, 2026
Before steering the author of the original post to a study showing how sudden windfalls – say, lottery wins – have no effect on criminal tendencies, beyond a slightly increased risk of speeding tickets.
Ditto guaranteed basic incomes, as shown by this study.
@justjargons You have causality backwards.
Crime creates poverty.
Nice neighborhoods are nice because they are populated by people who don’t destroy.
Neighborhoods populated by people who destroy are destroyed physically, economically, etc.

The “poverty causes crime” people think they’re being empathetic when they’re not. They’re removing agency from the equation. https://t.co/kAtPcv6nZ3

At which point, readers may wish to revisit the carjackers mentioned above and their delight in seeing their victims soiling themselves in terror. Because, to quote a carjacker named Tall, “It’s a rush thing… I feel good.” Or as a female carjacker named PoPo put it, “It’s funny just to see them shaking and pissing all over theyself.”
The latter being a charming creature who assaults and terrorises random people, at gunpoint, robbing them of their cars and wedding rings, before getting her hair done.
The struggles of many progressives to understand what empathy actually is have been noted before, at some length and with relevant illustrations.
As I said at the time:
Or not doing it at all.
Update, via the comments:
Regarding the aforementioned imperviousness, I should add that, so far as I can see, the author of the original post, Mr JustJargons, has yet to respond to any of the quite numerous replies.
Commenter EmC quotes this,
Adding merely,
Well, some things do bear repeating.
And when efforts at mitigation and excuse-making – invoking poverty – are applied to creatures like, say, the vile sow featured here, those efforts are hard to see as anything other than perverse.
As I said at the time, if you wanted to radically lower your estimation of the human species, she’d be the gal to call. Along with her social-media admirers. The ones applauding her chronic thievery and merrily clicking like.
For more on the subject of crime and those superimposed motives, see this trilogy of posts. In which, the featured perpetrators may make any progressive empathy, so-called, rather more difficult to sustain.
Update 2:
Commenter Geoff quotes this:
And adds,
That does seem more likely.
If good people fall on hard times and have to move into a bad area, this doesn’t generally change the nature of the area. They may simply become the latest victims of their new neighbours’ pathologies. But when bad people move into a good area, the effects tend to be negative and quite noticeable.
As Crémieux puts it in one of the replies,
In other words, nice neighbourhoods tend not to be occupied by creatures like the vile thieving sow featured in the video. And whose vileness will likely follow her whether she goes.
There’s a weird assumption of magic dirt, in which human capital, the quality of the residents, can’t be considered as a significant variable. The low crime rate and lack of overt pathology in an agreeable neighbourhood can only be “because people’s basic needs are being met.” It can’t be a question of the kinds of people who live there. One can’t acknowledge that some kinds of people are less functional than others. Lower quality.
That thought isn’t permitted.
See also this, on littering and the obvious variables one isn’t allowed to consider.
The determined avoidance of starkly apparent variables is quite remarkable.
Such that a supposedly serious article on litter inequality, citing a supposedly serious report on the same phenomenon, a supposed basis for government policy, somehow avoids any suggestion of agency on the part of the local population. Thereby giving the impression that nobody is actually dropping the litter, no-one is responsible. No-one keeps on doing it, over and over again.
The litter just appears, you see. Mysteriously, like overnight snow.

It would be ‘funny’ to see PoPo being hanged.

what about, what about the ones that have lots, are not poverty stricken, and WANT AND GET more by committing crimes? they do exist ya know . . .
For more on the subject of crime and imagined motives, see this trilogy of posts.

Again…Les Miserables. They forced that book on high school student for decades. Then of course the broadway musical. It wasn’t an accident.
I would prefer a very long period of very public humiliation. Filmed. To be shown in every high school in America. Then hang her. Eventually.

Because this happening joint is fully switched-on and interactive.
The left knows that such people exist: Much of leftist ideology is based on the belief that wealth is the result of theft from “exploited workers”. But try pointing out to liberals that this conflicts with their “poverty causes crime” dogma and they will look at you like a dog when you show it a wave function in a quantum mechanics textbook.
Band name.
I’m picturing some kind of jazz noodling.
Evan again demonstrates his depraved, defective mind:
Band name.
Let us compromise on a short drop.
We call those ‘politicians’.
It should be an unmerciful death, to better terrorize like-minded savages.
NGO officials. Etc.
The far-left extremist Hodei Ciarra has been identified as the man who burned down the historic town hall in Limoges
A bicyclist. Should he be broken on a bicycle wheel?
I think it’s time to blow this scene. Get everybody and the stuff together.
Band name.
Or indeed,
What?
They define crime too narrowly.
They fail to include “white collar” crimes such as the various types of fraud committed at every socioeconomic level.
Doctors commit Medicare and insurance fraud, not because they’re starving but because they’re greedy and dishonest.
People with criminal hearts commit those crimes that are at their disposal, regardless of wealth.
If you’re poor, you engage in mugging and shoplifting and carjacking. If you’re rich you tank global currencies.
Is there really any difference between those opportunistic looters and a politician who funnels gubmint money into his coffers?
Morally? No.
Practically? Yes.
There is an abstract nature to the various frauds and deceptions perpetrated upon the government. Few, if any, have the same reaction to the theft of thousands, or millions, from the government as they do to the theft of their wallet at knifepoint.
[ From the stockroom, jazz noodling. ]
One of the things the rabbit holes of body cam videos is good for is to see wannabe tough guy asshats like this get caught because it is funny to see them near universally shaking and pissing all over theyself while hollering for they momma.
Violence, interrupted?
First off, saying “poor” like it’s a permanent, monolithic demographic is the first hurdle. I daresay that most of us have been “poor” at one time or another. Certainly, when you’re a 20 y/o scraping together rent on a shoe-box sized apartment you’ve decorated ala thrift store, garage sale and hardware store, you’re certainly “poor”. And in a few years, you’ll work your way up from that because what motivates you beyond your own goals are the longtime residents in the same apartment complex who, in casual conversation, you get the feeling those people plan for the future like a dog does its next meal. Stuff, good or bad, “just happens”.
Then there’s the “poor people” who make the decision to be predators. You look at most petty crime, and you’re find a small core of people who commit the majority of crime on the books. Their idea of getting out of the ‘hood is just one hustle/theft away. That they keep getting caught is just a setback they haven’t solved yet.
This is why nationalizing poverty relief has rarely helped shrink the poor because 2/3rds of them just want $$ without any duty to change their behavior. See the screaming from the usual AWFLs that a work requirement for EBT is the apocalypse that will have The Poor dying on the streets.
Charity belongs at church/synagogue/volunteer groups because they are there on the ground and can identify the exploiters and bar them.

C’mon, it can’t be real.
Is it?
David, is this accurate? 🙂
In many areas poor relief was largely the province of local government (locally, the land allocated to the county poor farm is still in county hands).
Kind of.
They probably didn’t know any European ex-pats.
That’s been true for a long time; Trump merely exacerbated it…or brought it into the open.
Oh you sweet summer child.
What sort of dumbass thinks that a new president is going to have much effect on their daily life unless they are a criminal or an apparatchik?
James Talarico??
The flyer is likely made up but he did use the words on the flyer. So, it’s kind of true.
Yes, it’s easy but then why didn’t I think of it?
Alfred Hitchcock appears in the comments.
Notable:
A very strange claim. How many of them sincerely believe such nonsense, and how many are just striking a narcissistic pose?
“violence interrupters”–this was always a scam. What in the world is it that these people are supposed to do to “interrupt” violence? I cannot imagine any actions that can be taken that would do anything whatsoever.
As Darleen says, I was “poor” in college because my parents did not have extra $ beyond the basics. For a year I rented a room and slept on a couple of throw rugs stacked up. ie, on the floor. I had a bowl, a cup, a plate and washed them after each use. Did it bother me? No.
The rationale is that these are “street smart” people who know how to “interrupt” violence because they themselves have criminal histories.
There was a time when liberals would have laughed at such a claim. But that was a long time ago. Nowadays they embrace such bullshit, with both arms and both legs.

Apparently, it’s much easier to just delete the assertion in question, entirely unacknowledged, as if it never happened and no rethinking need occur.
Happily, I kept a screengrab.
He’s now banging on about capitalism and billionaires “hoarding” wealth.
Another childlike misconception that has been touched on here before.
If she moved into a nicer area she wouldn’t stop being vile, she’d just make the area worse for everyone else.
Every time I see one of Elon’s rockets launching I think about all the homeless people going without the fentanyl and alcohol they could have had. It brings a tear to my eye.
That does seem more likely.
