Because some things bear repeating, a few items from the archives:
Our Betters Solve Our Problems.
A “non-binary” barista opines.
“I’m a Starbucks barista at a drive-through,” says they. “I’ve de-escalated situations with people with guns… I’ve cooled shit down faster and better than a cop could.”
Readers are welcome to share clips of lively scenes to test this rather boastful hypothesis. It would, I think, have the makings of a compelling reality TV show. With preening, mouthy woke-lings encountering the realities they’ve so carefully ignored.
The subsequent tears and meltdowns could constitute a drinking game.
Mathematics is “saturated in whiteness.” Selfish inadequates hardest hit.
Even more frequent is use of the term “whiteness,” an alleged phenomenon on which the paper is premised. Though readers in search of some clear and convincing definition, or some compelling evidence of its existence, may find their hopes dashed. We are, however, assured that “whiteness” is something that gets in the way of black students “maintaining their Blackness.”
Readers will note how any feelings of incompetence and not being welcome are immediately blamed on external causes, on some ectoplasmic “whiteness,” that Befouler Of All Things. As if such feelings had nothing whatsoever to do with the choices and behaviour, and the personal shortcomings, of the students themselves.
Instead, Dr Jasien and her colleagues expect the teaching of mathematics to be driven by the goal of “healing… intellectual trauma,” by paying “attention to the minds and bodies of students.” The students being, it seems, much less obliged to pay attention to anything beyond themselves.
And so, we’re told that “exclamations” and “cacophony” are “to be both expected and valued.” Because when you picture a maths classroom and people getting to grips with differential equations or vector calculus, the first thing that springs to mind is the word cacophony.
Culture for the implausibly delicate.
So, to recap. Students must now be forewarned that Macbeth, a somewhat well-known tale of murder, includes scenes of blood and guilt – sorry, “psychological trauma.” And that Romeo and Juliet, one of the most famous tragedies in all of literature, contains, er, tragedy.
The modern sensibility, then, the approved outlook on things, is one in which we are to view cross-dressing perverts striding into schoolgirls’ changing rooms as in no way provocative or untoward, and regarding which one mustn’t bat an eye, while simultaneously trembling at the prospect of Shakespeare’s The Tempest containing dramatic approximations of bad weather.
A mindset in which almost any dramatic work that predates Instagram must now come with spoilers. Which does rather appear to defeat the object.
The World Economic Forum’s Ida Auken wants to correct your primitive lifestyle.
Says Ms Auken, “I don’t own anything. I don’t own a car. I don’t own a house. I don’t own any appliances or any clothes.” All these things, these beastly capitalist products, would be “free.”
And not yours.
For those craving more, this is a pretty good place to start.

I’ve gone from coffee machine to a french press (too many fiddly bits) to pour-over (not enough extraction from the grounds) to an AeroPress XL. The inverted brewing method is prone to liquid disasters and it burns my fingers but it’s the best method yet.
Speaking of stolen credibility:
Funny, that.
I stick to what I grew up with: Eight O’Clock Coffee, whole bean, ground fresh for each cup, made with a pour-over. Although I wouldn’t mind finding an old percolater and using that.
In this interview with Elliot Page, what jumps out is the fact that Page’s expressions, gestures, phrasing, and emotions are entirely feminine. Page is acting like a “pick me!” girl and wonders why no studio wants a 5’1″ “man” to play a role. I am told that Page had very little screen time in The Odyssey and perhaps was chosen more as a PR stunt.
Sad.
Let the giggling third grader in me bring you a song for your day.
I tried not to laugh, I swear, but was felled by shag-a-booby-tits.
Or, mentally ill woman makes herself an absurdity and difficult to employ, then complains about lack of offers.
Or, terminally messed-up female actress mystified by not being offered male parts.
Also, the gushing dolt doing the interview: “Arguably the greatest movie ever made.”
Simon Webb has some thoughts on that perverse and misleading Nature editorial.
A good brand. Curiously disappeared from the shelves of all the supermarkets in my area–except for the supposedly contemptible, low-class Walmart.
Originated as a brand of the now-defunct A&P supermarkets, which were known for quality tea and coffee.
There was a time, lost in the mists of antiquity, before it was enshittified by hipster douchebags, wine moms, various other riff raff, and before everything was flavored frippery that Starbucks was actually not at all bad. However, seeing all the coffee prep nonsense herein:

It only occurred to me afterwards, I swear.

I think that explains the coffee craze in general amongst younger people. Starbucks rose to popularity as the coffee craze was rising and their burnt flavoring set them apart as somewhat uniquely different. They managed to capitalize on that before others and the branding hook was set. I saw a slightly similar thing with IPA beers which rode the craft beer, or any-beer-but-big-corporate-beer wave. Something interesting and different that caught on as The Next Big Thing. Now both Starbucks and IPA’s are low-to-middling quality, just like the brands they displaced once were, and not all that different or special, but don’t tell their customers that.
That appears to be Kevin McCarthy “KM on Film”
I’d say that the internet is saturated with dolts, but so are the establishment media.
Answering the eternal question, how many Japanese people does it take to rescue a fallen chimpanzee….akshullly…I still don’t know. Lost count.

Readers will, I suspect, note an identifying detail that’s oddly unmentioned, lest it be deleted even more promptly by Reddit’s moderators.

Morbidly curious, I asked Grok to summarise this blog:
And regarding the comment section:
And in summary:
Hm. Not unfair, I think. Could be worse, certainly.
The tagline doesn’t read Persuading the pathology since 2007.
A feature, not a bug.
No mention of the Henchlesbians or the Correction Booth.
Heh. Well, quite. You’ll be shocked to hear I have zero interest in drafting policy documents. I’m more interested in the root assumptions, the psychology, on which such things get built.
I did like the bit about the comments being fully integrated rather than just bolted on. That was nice. That’s something I very much hoped to do.
I asked Grok to suggest comparable sites. After what seemed like an awfully long pause, it suggested The Critic, Samizdata and The Conservative Woman.
If anyone so much as titters, I’m upping the price of the drinks.
I think it’s fair to say that this blog is unique.

IIRC the latter is no more.
Also no Giant Vaginas.
IMHO, the whole of Ellen Page’s career has been one stunt after another. After lightening struck with Juno, while she has had fairly steady work, she has been in forgettable movies in forgettable roles.
She has, however, remained in the tabloid press as she progressed through her sexual identity — first discovering her homosexuality, then her inner boy. She’s really parlayed the latter in her Trans-evangelizing into her real career.
There’s some people who cannot, will not, live a life outside of a spotlight. If the bloom ever finally slips off the TQ+ movement, Page will pivot.
Also possible that Page will have a breakdown.
So, Mr. Holier-Than-Thou, how do you arrest people who don’t want to be arrested?
Ever notice that smarmy David French has a very punchable face?
A nagging question… Is there a difference between David French and David Brooks?
Page’s (tiny) role in Odysseus was tacked on in two places to contribute to the fundamental theme Nolan was going for: Odysseus as the exemplar of the amoral barbaric Hero culture, to be shunned by the right-thinking.
The beard?
Heaven knows the false piety is indistinguishable.
And here I was thinking it was to meet absurd quotas.
Gotta meet the sex-and-melanin quotas or no Oscar qualification for you!
The choice of actor was probably motivated by those absurd AMPAS rules, but I was talking about the character and script.
