[ Has flashback to standing in the local fish and chip shop overhearing a lively, quite heated discussion about the correct word for breadcakes. ]
That’s the nub of it, really. In general, lesser talents are being cast to check off boxes, resulting in a poorer production for it. There simply aren’t enough Washingtons and Freemans out there. It’s not a deep bench. It’s worse in Canada.
I’ve opined before about Canada’s Stratford Festival going ridiculously woke and the resulting decline in quality, from an Asian actor whose accent was so strong it was difficult to understand his lines, to a black actor who stood and delivered his lines as if he were completely stoned. All in the same production of Romeo and Juliet.
I’ve mentioned before a five-foot, 100lb brown belt who insisted that she could take me in a ring fight. That didn’t end well.
She gets up and wants to get right into it again, and has to be restrained by her friend. She’s done this before and gotten away with it. She’s never been injured as a result.
The mugger was a strung-out junkie and smaller and lighter than the MMA fighter in question.
You don’t need peer review for this. Tattoos on a woman say “I like pain, and I’m so desperate for attention I’ll do permanently disfiguring things to get it with no concern for the long-term consequences”. Tramp stamps say “The only time you’re going to see this is when I’m shaking my ass in your face, or when you’re railing me from behind. Which means these are things I regularly do”.
As Kate over at SDA repeatedly points out, pet rescue operations are a scam. They scoop up street dogs from all over the third world, smuggle them in with little or no quarantine or vetting for medical issues. The pet rescue business is propped up entirely by AWFUL virtue-signaling.
Because you have to stand there and not point and laugh at the stone age savages trying to scare you by making loud noises.
“I lack the cultural sophistication to appreciate modern interpretive dance.” Works a treat. The AWFULs get to feel superior to the uncultured rube, and everyone else knows you’ve just taken the piss.
Canadian version: you can drive for 17 hours and still be in the same tax jurisdiction.
California version: similar taxes, leftism, and corruption?
Texas version: less leftism and better chili.
Y’know, it’s been awhile since we’ve posted anything about the French and the Belgians.
Weimar vibes.
You know, when the left’s antics have you thinking “okay, maybe the NSDAP did have a bit of a point…”
But then, that’s the whole point. Division, dissension, and revolution.

Hasn’t Monica Grenfell been mentioned here before?

Do keep in mind that Ms. Rowling was as woke as woke could be before the leopards showed up to eat her face, and has a habit of repeating easily debunked statistics. She’s Naomi Wolf with a posh accent.
Men are not 98% of sexual offenders by sex; that statistic ignores the large number of female offenders who routinely avoid formal classification as such due to an unwillingness by the justice system in Western nations to punish female offenders as severely as it does male offenders.
Factor in prison rape and women aren’t 88% of rape victims either.
Rowling’s activism begins and ends with “men bad, women good”. Her position on this topic is not “men in dresses are nuts, and therefore dangerous”; it’s “men in dresses are men, and therefore dangerous”.
Figure it out yourselves, ladies.
It’s humiliating to Australians as a nation. If they want to present an authentic cultural performance for visiting athletes and dignitaries, it ought to be an AC/DC cover band!
