Today’s Word Is ‘Dentistry’
Lifted from the comments, which you’re reading of course, Christopher Rufo spies more dolts and liars in dumb academia:
And yet, none of these post-colonial theorists want to “decolonize” electricity, antibiotics, and other oppressive constructs of the Western world, in order to return to the authentic indigenous ways of the darkened teepee and dying from a small scratch on the leg. https://t.co/iL4cwZIqrr

Note that the first words uttered by Noah Romero, our Assistant Professor of Native American and Indigenous Studies, are hilariously untrue. Note too his framing of his own efforts – all that “undoing, dislodging, subverting” – as an “eradicative project,” one intended to purge Western civilisation of its, well, civilisation.
And presumably, by implication, to purge it of people like thee and me. Those who might protest. But remember, we’ve been assured that the term decolonise is “misinterpreted” by those who dare to look unimpressed, and that it is, despite appearances, entirely benign, used by higher beings with the most fragrant of intentions.
In entirely unrelated news, Hampshire College, where Mr Romero peddles his claptrap, among his fellow educators – sorry, fellow “activists” – is closing down permanently at the end of this year. Due to debt, accreditation issues, and steeply declining enrolment.
Whether this impending closure will impact Mr Romero’s primitivist fantasies of remaking the world, by dislodging and subverting things, or prompt any reflection on his life choices more generally, is a question I leave to the reader.
Conceivably, the world may soon be denied Mr Romero’s “projects that examine the anti-colonial pedagogies found in minority-led punk, skateboarding, and unschooling subcultures.”
I’ll give you a moment to bite down on your fist in sorrow.
But fear not, very similar noises, mouthed by eerily similar idiots, can be found elsewhere. More easily, and often, than one might wish.
Consider this an open thread. Share ye links and bicker.

OT: An addition to your “art” collection.
I cried.
I’m just going to leave this here.
Because I can, that’s why.
I’d go with leave well alone.
Dressing like Charles Bronson in travel-stained duster, hat, and boots?
From previous thread: those who decry “profit” do not understand econ at all. They seem to grant the farmer can get “wages” for growing food, but not the grocery store. But if someone cannot make something from the grocery store, it will not exist. A grocery store costs a bundle to build and run. The food has to be brought there in trucks that cost a lot using gas that costs. How will all this happen without profit? Oh sure, we will all just barter for everything, but I have nothing to barter that a farmer needs directly. That is why we have money. The “profit” they hate so much is why in America we have so much, delivered so fast, of such high quality. If some people get rich making the things I need, great.
Faked assassination attempt: To believe that Trump faked his assassination attempt is to believe that he would be willing to let a 20 yr old (IIRC) shoot him in the ear from a distance. As if nothing could go wrong. FFS

That feeling you get when you realise it’s nought to do with literacy.
BTW, ‘everyone’s penis size’?
How is a simple, effective, border policy a complicated moral question?
They’re not noble but they are savage. Ask anyone who’s tried to make contact over the last 20 years. (Oh wait they’re all dead.) That’s a good reason not to have anything to do with them.
Yes, the assorted fools who felt entitled to override every signal – missionaries, thrill-seekers, and so forth – and the unfortunate fishermen who’ve washed ashore in the worst possible place – have not fared well. Almost every recorded encounter, every attempt at saying hello, has been met with vehement hostility or death. Seems fairly unambiguous.
As I said in reply,
Not ideal, really.
I figure we can worry about this conundrum if they ever develop sailing technology robust enough to get from their island to literally anywhere else.
And it scarcely needs pointing out that in terms of integrating primitive cultures into modernity, our track record ain’t all that.
These are not “pedagogies”. This is the stroppy, low-IQ druggie kids who spent all of high school skipping class, trashing the local mall steps with their skateboards, and beating up younger kids for money to buy weed.
I read a study (sorry, too long ago to cite) that seemed to show that the longer a region had had agriculture, the easier time the people there had adapting to modern city life. Agriculture in Europe, middle east, asia for at least 12,000 years, and maybe 15,000 depending on how you count it. In Central/South america, maybe 4,000 years. Much of Africa never. Some of Africa a few thousand with simple crops, no irrigation, not much storage. Apparently, the demands of agriculture and larger communities select for certain traits. Like IQ.

Alternate formulation: their track record ain’t all that.

Putting a price tag on that enrichment.
Foxy bookmark. Someone fixing to lose some chickens.
No, that wasn’t a bullet. It was a minor explosive device like they use in the movies to simulate bullets popping through a shirt.
So he hid a minor explosive behind his ear, it was remotely detonated, and then they killed the kid and another guy and winged a few more spectators for teh REALLZ.
Y’all work too hard. It was all AI.
