IMHO I tend to believe it happened … I came of age in SoCal during the time of Chavez’s “unionizing” and reports of his thuggish behavior (he pretty much had organized goons beating up illegals and leaving them half-dead in ditches as ‘examples’ … plus the vandalism to growers’ property and equipment) were well known. So why not use his power to take what he wanted from women, too?
I never bought into the cynical myth-building that surrounded all the murals/statues, even state holidays, dedicated to him.
And I don’t have much use for Delores Huerta … she claims rape, including two children conceived by those rapes … but she never reported it because it could have “hurt the cause”.

They don’t need to — they’ve known the truth for decades. It’s just that there’s something about him (opposition to illegal immigration?) that they need to yeet him away for at this moment, so it’s become more convenient to reveal the truth than to hide it.
The point about different types of criminals being active indoors or at night – and therefore less likely to be scanned – bears repeating. If you’re a more brazen or impulse-driven criminal preying on commuters and busy streets – snatching phones and other belongings, or having lively machete fights, etc – then daylight hours are business hours, as it were, and you’re more likely to be scanned.
The endless videos we’ve seen of shoplifting-cum-looting and daylight hatchet-wielding do have obvious racial characteristics. Albeit of a kind one isn’t supposed to notice.
Again, the unease of the Essex Police seems to be based on the fact that the proportion of black criminals is remarkably high. It looks like the usual racial neuroticism found so often among progressives. Endless fudging and contrivance to excuse an obvious but unmentionable phenomenon.
