Have you ever been to Bala?
Twice. Saw Max Webster and April Wine at the KEE. I had a friend with a cottage near Gravenhurst and we made the drive.
Adventures in Rainbow Country (Espinola/Manitoulin area) was about as serious as 1970s TV drama could get. Now, it was no Beachcombers…
If you go full Trump on these Cluster B harpies, then the takeaway is that you lost your mind and you’re a horrible person. They win.
When you keep your cool, eventually the harpies reveal themselves to be in the wrong because you can see them evading and scrambling and being dishonest and unfair. It takes awhile, but it works.
If you’re the good guys, you have to be good. Not “polite” (deferential) but rational, lacking in malice or hostility, being a lover of the TRVTH and defender of it. Murray’s insistence on facts and truth are his strong suit.
MLK’s movement insisted on stoicism, peace, uprightness, lack of malice, and behavior above and beyond the call. They exposed their opponents as brutes and they established their strongest argument: We are just as human as you are and we deserve to be treated with the same respect as everyone else.
Their iron dignity in the face of abuse did a LOT of the heavy lifting. Given that leftists dehumanize the right, it’s incumbent on the right to behave as humanly and humanely as possible, to sustain the argument that we are just normal people and they’ve gone off the rails.
I understand the urge to punch back twice as hard (which you would do in an actual war), but in a war of ideas such as we’re in, the calm, rational, patient, non-malicious, non-hostile people will win, if we keep our wits about us.
In other news, apparently a few of my friends are negroes and I don’t think they know.
As if the fact that the sender identified themselves as Le’queesha wasn’t enough.
Great. Sucks getting old such that one can’t even keep up with esoteric Canadian humor.
Well, tbf I didn’t say full Trump.
The harpies revealed themselves long ago to those of us who have seen this game being played for decades. They have been wrong for decades yet they have persuaded 81 million (probably more, possibly a little less) to go out and vote for their insanity. The brainwashed masses didn’t get that way by being reasoned into it.
MLK, nor the sainted Gandhi, nor any other power shift made progress without a simultaneous push from the likes of Malcom X or publicized letters to ‘Dear friend’ Adolph. Politeness has its place but when dealing with an intractable foe, one who already has considerable political power, you need to put them on their back foot. This is something women simply do not understand, at a conscious level anyway, and like to wish away. Subconsciously…
And how well was that process working before Trump, before Milie, before Nigel Farage? We’re not talking about physical punching, which you would doin an actual fistfight. Politics on a national level not a war of ideas, it is a contest of mass persuasion. Ideas can be persuasive in a conference/class room environment yet even then there’s an implied head nod to the masses/mobs outside the door. Murray is reacting here. He is giving a good, rational response to an offensive move by the left. You do not win battles of any kind on defense alone. There must be some sort of an offense. The Overton Window does not move itself.
Gonna have to stay out of this conversation, as almost everything is incredibly obscure to me: I didn’t even encounter Sergeant Preston until, at about age 9, I vacationed in North Carolina where the TV stations broadcast a much different mix than those in my big city home.
