Friday Ephemera
“Why is your mouth making that noise?” || 83 metres. || Today’s word is meaty. || The thrill of teapot-making. || Meanwhile, in fairness and inclusivity news. || The fine dining experience. || “The longest fart ever is over two and a half minutes long.” || You’re embarrassing him, you see. || Two-bed flat, Islington: “The underground bunker is very spacious.” (h/t, Things) || Rinse and repeat. || The thrill of tunnels. || How to hypnotise a crab. || And what do you do with your surplus pieces of wood? || Scenes from progressive utopia. || Progressive law enforcement. || A coincidence, I’m sure. || Customer feedback. (h/t, STG) || The wife will love it. || And finally, while it’s hard to be sure, I think fun is being had.
I say “since 3/2020” but remembering better now…deaths were beginning to rise in October or November of 2019 before jumping even more significantly higher in mid -2020. And yes, I had adjusted my baseline numbers for a “normal flu season”. Which is partly why I suspect either something else was/is going around and it’s under the radar or, what I have long suspected, this thing got here shortly after the Wuhan “accident”. Or a combination of the two. I have seen references to some sort of military style Olympic style competition that China supposedly hosted, IIRC somewhere close to Wuhan. Never verified that but it also seems suspicious.
She replied that if I didn’t know that, then that proves I’m a fascist.
“Well if you explain it to me, then I’ll know, and I won’t be a fascist any more. And you’ll have won a great victory by eliminating a fascist. So why not tell me?”
A belated ping and such. David, depending on the whether and which’s of your dislike for Prometheus, you may find one of the fan edits, with the cut/edited portions replaced, more to your liking. As a died in the wool misanthrope and fan of perfect organisms, I didn’t hate it, but found the edits to be more satisfying. Alien was excellent, but written to pull in women, I suspect, thus SW becomes a very capable leader and action hero, although, there is no indicator that this potential is in the character’s background. Instant action hero, just add h2o, erm, xeno/exomorph. As an equally (mildly) derisive aside, Memory: The Origins of Alien has some wrong-headed assertions about the facehuggers and male fear of rape, which seem more than likely a reaction by the woman making the statement to violent and rape-suggestive imagery centering around one Ellen Ripley. One must identify with the character, and ‘be empowered,’ not feel helpless and outraged, one suspects. Couldn’t be the natural dislike of being ill, parasitic infestation, or having things tear their way out of or into one’s flesh, it must be a male fear of alien rape. Bizarre mythos the academe have created to live in. [pours 2 fingers of Springbank 10, neat]

Bless you. May you never be short of lens wipes. Or fridge deodorisers. Or those plastic clippy things to reseal biscuits, bread bags, and so forth.
The calculations are off. 1730m in 44 seconds is only 76 kt or 140 km/h. The video title says he was doing 245 km/h which is 132 kt.
