Yeah… I know. I considered using the capital ‘C’ but as a Yank didn’t feel qualified to state it that way.
Hence, any references to Mallory’s homosexuality have been expunged
Mentioned this to my wife and she reminded me that there is a scene, I think early on, that hints at that. But as you say, modern fiction being oriented toward or at least constantly conscious of the female market share for modern fiction, the story makes even more sense. There’s a reason I lost interest in modern fiction. Was Mallory definitely gay or one of those things that maaaaybe he was, or is it something like the Abe Lincoln (and damn near everyone else important in history) BS?
If I see one more leftist…
Also the conservatives who cannot even manage to speak in opposition to what the left does, but always find conservative reasons to roll over.

Oh…
Exactly. I actually find them even more unbearable. Went to a 9/11 memorial service this morning. I’m not in the habit of those sorts of things. I do occasionally attend memorial observances on Veterans’ Day or Memorial Day but even then usually/mostly in remembrance of my father. Today was such a beautiful day and in a small town where the majority still have some degree of respect for this country, its values, etc. I thought it might lift us up a bit as news, both personal and otherwise, has been a bit bleak. I don’t know if it was this damn virus taking yet another otherwise healthy brother of a close friend, on top of my wife’s nephew, or the FB argument I found myself in last night defending the traditions of Halloween (and I was never a big fan of it) against a cousin (whose own brother has been fighting for his life for over 3 weeks in the hospital with covid) and a friend of hers who both claimed to love it more than I do yet were making such stupid, stupid SJW type declarations (something to do with autism while criticizing, with numerous f-bombs, those silly, retarded old jackasses like myself who think a costume and expecting to hear the words “trick-or-treat” as fascist bastards). But God am I sick of people. I tried to explain that neither I nor anyone else have any obligation to hand out candy to random too-cool-for-school teenagers who can’t be bothered to dress up nor even say those words. Without some form of tradition the holiday and its fun will die. I look around at people and am dumbstruck at how f’n stupid so many people are. How is this hard to understand?
While on a rant about stupid people…so my homeowners association has a pool with associated cabana bathrooms, very simple, that thanks to my efforts to end a certain 12 year long lawsuit we now can finally afford to cleanup and renovate after much neglect. We’re a few days into the two week or so renovation when one of our “concerned” residents, a long ago former president and long time board member, asks why we don’t have a port-o-potty available. You see there’s something called TWBD. He literally tells me this, in all seriousness…Teenie-weenie Bladder Syndrome. Yes. People are so weak that they cannot hold their bladders or bowels long enough to go back to their homes nor can they go two weeks without using the pool. It’s just too much to ask. So we should spend $75-$200 per day (per quick google) or whatever it costs. This man was once in the Army, was a “first responder” (I think fire) and retired from working at a company as the “highest level as a National Manager supervising the entire US for one of the largest US companies”. I threatened to just close the damn pool for the duration but thought better of it. I always hated it in school when the teacher would punish the entire class because she was too stupid to handle a situation herself.
I think I better go now. I think I wanna puke… I don’t have to, I just want to.
Apropos of nothing at all, I noticed this over to the left under “Categories”.
It is from 2014 and I want to know whether they have Miss Cleo on staff or were funded by some virus institute.

To be clear, Wade Davis doesn’t imply Mallory was gay, but rather documents some youthful homosexual experience. As I mentioned, this seems to have been not unusual among the upper-class English youth of the time. He later married and was very much in love with his wife.
The increasing anti-Americanism of Leftists has been noted many times, but on Friday, a Teen Vogue contributor named Jenn M. Jackson took it to new heights, claiming that 9/11 “was an attack on the heteropatriarchal capitalistic systems that America relies upon to wrangle other countries into passivity.” Yes, it appears that now cheering for the 9/11 jihadis has begun to be normalized on the Left.

Fuck her siblings (if any), aunts, uncles, and cousins. Fuck her neighbors as well. Fuck every author of every book she (presumed to have) read. Fuck Hollywood and the producers of every TV show she has watched. I’m sure there are others that I have left out. Fuck them too.
Fuck the education system that “educated” her.

Harlan Ellison wrote, many years ago, of at least one Hollywood producer who boasted that he didn’t need to pay writers to come up with plot ideas
Well, well, well. Speak of the devil…
No one’s going to read someone else’s work and say, “This is fine. No, you don’t have to thank me. Just doing my job.”
Except Harlan Ellison, of course. But you knew *he* would.
I have a recording of him telling the story for some smallish audience. I got the recording in 2007 (no idea of the source).
At one time (he relates), he had been hanging around Rienzi’s in the Village, and people would come to sing and pass that hat. He’d sing, too: “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”, “Love for Sale”, etc. One night a girl came in before him and had sung most of his usual songs. Then he came on and sang some other songs and passed the hat. The girl swiped *his* money, $21 according to the owner. A short time later this girl got a part in “We Can Get It For You Wholesale”. Her name: Barbra Streisand.
Fast forward some years to the filming of “On A Clear Day You Can See Forever” with Babs and Yves Montand. Harlan went to the studio and as he entered heard her ranting furiously at Yves, continuing as Harlan proceeded to her massive trailer within the studio to meet the producer. A script titled “All-American Girl” by Arnold Schulman was being proposed for her next film (no idea what happened to it, unlikely to be related to the unrated 1973 movie). Harlan had read the script, and thought it was perfect and said so, and refused to rewrite it. All present, including his agent, were dumbfounded.
At that very moment Babs storms into the trailer, and Harlan sees her and says, “Besides, that bitch owes me 21 bucks!”
Don’t talk to me about the comic book superhero genre, which has LITERALLY JUST ONE FUCKING IDEA.
I think that’s selling it short. I mean, the MCU movies weirdly all have virtually the exact same character arc of empowerment-hubris-fall-redemption, and I’m not going to try to defend superhero comic books as anything but pulp entertainment for pre-adolescent boys. But superhero comics are the 20th century Western equivalent of hero myths, and that’s a rich seam of storytelling. The Matrix movies are just Plato’s metaphor of the Cave, after all.
I don’t know if it was this damn virus taking yet another otherwise healthy brother of a close friend, on top of my wife’s nephew, […]
The normal flu killed something between 12,000 – 61,000 deaths annually since 2010. (Which is really big effing spread, CDC.) (https://www.statista.com/statistics/1124915/flu-deaths-number-us/ may provide “better” information, but I’m starting to distrust on-line data now.)
I managed to get the flu myself in my late 40s. I had thought the flu was merely a worse cold than normal. After actually having the flu, I realized that my head had been firmly up my own ass on the matter. I have no doubt that people can die of it, although in most cases it killed the very young and the very old.
My wife’s boss got COVID-19 and it damned near killed him. He had to force the hospital to give him remdesivir.
OTOH, I’ve had a sinus infection this week and when I accessed an on-line doctor, they concluded that I might have COVID-19. I used a different health provider who merely gave me antibiotics (with the warning that I very probably had a viral sinus infection which goes away in a week versus the bacterial one which requires antibiotics, but he knew I’d bitch about it anyways).
I have my own irritation about current events; posting my thoughts about such on the internet in an earlier time would have been fairly safe. Good thing the past is safely behind us as we go to our glorious future.
The normal flu killed something between
The problem with comparing influenza deaths to Chinese Lung AIDS is nobody actually knows how many people die of influenza; they don’t trace or test for influenza the way they do Kung Flu, so the death numbers are based on the few people who die of it in hospital, inflated via a half-assed statistical guess not dissimilar to the one they used to estimate how many people were going to die of Mexican Beer Virus.
In other words, the numbers are garbage.
I can’t help but think that if an independent studio put some serious effort into market research, writing, and crafting quality films for a general North American market, they would be able to carve out a nice living for themselves.
Pixar.
They’re got too successful now, of course. But the profit made by the original founders was something else.

Well, here’s https://www.statista.com/statistics/184574/deaths-by-influenza-and-pneumonia-in-the-us-since-1950/ as well.
There appears to be a reason to assign deaths to COVID-19 now; I do not believe there would have been a reason to assign a death that was explained by something else to the flu/pneumonia in past years. Since I now live in the place where the future is certain but the past isn’t, I’d hope that someone could find a piece of paper with statistics on it versus the (sadly) malleable WWW.
Of course she is a professor, silly.
As noted previously, you could think of wokeness as a kind of rapid-onset morony.
Examples abound.
I do not believe there would have been a reason to assign a death that was explained by something else to the flu/pneumonia in past years
See https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/how-cdc-estimates.htm:
“CDC uses a mathematical model to estimate the numbers of influenza illnesses, medical visits, hospitalizations, and deaths in the United States[…]. The methods used to calculate the burden of influenza have been described previously (1-2). More recently, the same model was adopted to estimate influenza-associated deaths in the United States. This methodology has been used to retroactively calculate influenza burden, including deaths, going back to 2010.

Pixar has always been one of those weird companies that’s actually making movies for adults, not children. There’s a subtle but important difference between making a movie for kids and inserting parent-targeted jokes to keep the adults entertained, and making a movie for adults that looks like a kids’ film.
and making a movie for adults that looks like a kids’ film.

Mr. Ream, my last posted graph went back to 1950, which predates 2010. I don’t especially trust it since it is on the World Wide Lie, but I’d have to find a hardcopy of the data to validate the graph’s source.
For the love of anything that isn’t evil, I was an armor battalion S-1 in 1984 (3rd Battalion, 34th Armor Regiment as mentioned in https://usarmykaserne.com/home/ferris-barracks/ unlike anything that you’d find in WikiPedia). This world is closer to the fucking dystopia described in the book of the same name than the real world was in 1984.
Limiting this to “origin” movies, as sequels tend to have different arcs
Captain America:tFA? I suppose I could sort of argue it, but it seems a stretch…

Twenty Years Later, Engineering Experts Explain How The Twin Towers Collapsed
TLDR; A couple of planes smashed into them.
My feelings about this Chinese crap, exactly how dangerous it is, have shifted considerably in the last 6 weeks or so. I agree much..pretty much all of the statistics are BS. Things have been severely politicized right down to people’s expressed personal experiences. That’s why, contrary to a normal situation, in this situation I put more emphasis on empirical evidence. Though I have always felt empirical evidence was a very, very important factor that is dismissed too easily. In the past 6 weeks I’ve seen normal, healthy people, as young as 32, die or like my cousin fighting for his life in ICU going on 5 weeks now. Up until now, I’ve known probably dozens of people who tested positive. More than a few with underlying health issues, though nothing extreme, who got sick and got over it to varying degrees with only one or two having so much as a hospital visit. My friend whose brother just died himself had this thing back in October I believe. He had no serious issues. His brother, while yes was 65, but fully vaccinated and was like my friend extremely healthy, active person, as is all their family. They just buried their mother about a month ago and their father about two years ago. Great friends of my parents, both lived into their 90’s. This is a healthy family.
This thing has changed considerably. This isn’t even the dreaded Spanish Flu equivalent that has been used for the past 100 years as a worst case scenario, which was the template I was using to gauge this. This thing has been engineered. Most likely by people with very evil intentions. The Chinese have unleashed this thing on the world, intentionally or not, killed millions of people, and there’s barely a peep about their responsibility. Even from the people whose loved ones have died from it. Pathetic.
Except Harlan Ellison, of course. But you knew *he* would.
Harlan was an unusual person, sometimes shiningly wonderful and sometimes monstrously awful.
TLDR; A couple of planes smashed into them.
To be fair, it does provide more technical details than the first reports. But note this passage:
“In the decades since the World Trade Center was designed, buildings have become taller and more complex, as societies demand sustainable and cost-effective housing in large cities.”
I do wonder sometimes about the necessity of immensely tall buildings. Compare these two famous Chicago examples, the Merchandise Mart and the Sears (Willis) Tower: They both have very roughly the same amount of floor space and yet the Mart is 18 floors vs. the Sears Tower’s 108 floors. What’s more, I think the Mart’s architecture will eventually be recognized as more “sustainable” than a tall steel-and-glass curtain wall skyscraper.
They have gone too far with this genetically engineered meat thing.
“Up until now, I’ve known probably dozens of people who tested positive. More than a few with underlying health issues, though nothing extreme, who got sick and got over it to varying degrees with only one or two having so much as a hospital visit. …”
In my experience, I know personally three people who’ve caught it. All recovered.
(Note: I belive your account.)
I also see the absolute garbage pushed on us. The lies. The misinformation. The faked statistics. The utter fecklessness and politicization of the virus. The destruction of our economic lives while the managerial class enjoys working from home. The utter disinclination to actually discuss the science by our fake media in an attempt to reach the truth behind the lethality of this virus, and the proper steps to take to combat it.
There appears to be a reason to assign deaths to COVID-19 now; I do not believe there would have been a reason to assign a death that was explained by something else to the flu/pneumonia in past years.
In March of last year here in the US&A the way deaths had been recorded for thing like the flu was changed for covid (NVSS Covid Alert 2):
Over in the UK (unless they changed it recently) any death, from any cause, with a positive covid test in the past 28 days was a “covid death”.
Meanwhile, over at the CDC Weekly Updates, and if you scroll down to comorbidities (if the link doesn’t take you directly there) we learn:
An average of four. We also learn that there were over 13,000 deaths from accidents and other mayhem that somehow are “covid deaths”.
The “why” is an exercise left to the student, as they used to say.
Poke around the CDC stats, (unless it gets memoryholed), for those on the west side of the big ditch, there is a county level tracker, demographics over time, and all sorts of other stuff.
Regarding the Spanish Flu and the high death rate, it is not unlike the present counting above. The actual causes of death were generally from complications such as secondary bacterial pneumonia and the like for which there was no effective treatment back then, and due in no small part to the relatively abysmal conditions in which large parts of the world were living.
I’d have to find a hardcopy of the data to validate the graph’s source.
Click on the “sources” link, sign up for a Statista account, review the sources, and let me know what you find. (Protip: it takes you to the CDC)
I do wonder sometimes about the necessity of immensely tall buildings
Um, land value per square foot? The Merchandise Mart covers two square city blocks. The Sears Tower about a quarter of that.
An average of four.
The problem with these stats is that they’ve become hopelessly corrupted. People who died of a motorcycle accident and tested positive post-mortem are counted; so are people who died of heart failure or pneumonia that were directly caused by Chinese Lung AIDS, but were listed as co-morbidities. It’s essentially impossible to say how dangerous Kung Flu is, beyond “not as dangerous as we’re being told”.
Um, land value per square foot? The Merchandise Mart covers two square city blocks. The Sears Tower about a quarter of that.
But also the fraction of each floor which must be set aside for the core (elevators, stairwells, etc.) thus resulting in skyscrapers having a smaller fraction of usable floor space.
I think I’d prefer a city which spreads out more but does not have super-high glass-and-steel towers.
“I think I’d prefer a city which spreads out more but does not have super-high glass-and-steel towers.
Does London have that restriction? Its beautiful skyline is one of the reasons I’ve always loved it.
Does London have that restriction? Its beautiful skyline is one of the reasons I’ve always loved it.
Tall steel and glass buildings seem to dominate more with each passing year, looming high over the beautiful old buildings that–for me at least–personify London and England.
I think I’d prefer a city which spreads out more
Fine notion, if geography doesn’t have other ideas. I live in a city hemmed in by large and intractable geographical features on three sides, and possessed of a population that also would prefer a city which spreads out, and votes accordingly. The result is SFD that go for north of $1.3M.
This suggested video showed up. https://youtu.be/huWFkFT9r0E
It’s essentially impossible to say how dangerous Kung Flu is, beyond “not as dangerous as we’re being told”.
While I know of people who have died of pneumonia and flu, the usual predictor was age and/or fragile health such that a respiratory illness was just something their bodies couldn’t fight.
Yet while relatively in small numbers, I see perfectly healthy people die of covid while other healthy people (like my daughter & her sons) got through it with moderate symptoms.
and for the life of me, I do not understand WHY the Ruling Class is so invested in shooting down ever therapeutic that comes up. *No* therapeutic will work for everyone, but is that a reason to engage in the horrible theater of denouncing Ivermectin as nothing but a “horse de-wormer” and wishing out loud that people using prescription Ivermectin just DIE?
This is more than insane, it’s evil.
I do not understand WHY the Ruling Class is so invested in shooting down ever therapeutic that comes up
A combination of reasons that reinforce each other.
The viral gene therapies are not safe and are untested, and the only reason they were deployed is because the government sought an emergency use authorization. An EUA can only be granted if absolutely no other treatments are available. If Ivermectin/HCQ/etc. are effective prophylactics or therapeutics, then the EUA immediately disappears and the gene therapies go away.
This means no more profits for the pharmaceutical companies and their paid politicians. It also deprives statist authoritarians of their best tool for transforming society to come along in a century. If the virus can be easily managed by cheap out-of-patent drugs then there’s no emergency and no emergency powers. Taking credit for solving the pandemic is table scraps compared to being able to keep the entire population under iron control indefinitely.
There’s also the problem that having doubled and tripled down on “the untested viral gene therapy works and it’s the only thing that works” they’ve backed themselves into a corner. They have to keep up the lie or else face the wrath of the proles, and the longer they keep up the lie, the harder and louder they have to lie because they’re now well past the point of being able to say “well, we just didn’t know”.
That’s for the people at the top. The midwit elites and karens are clinging to the lie because the pandemic doesn’t affect them very much, and the lie turns fear into a virtue. This entire blog is about the lengths people will go to to publicly demonstrate that they’re better than you, and right now nothing works better for that than wearing six masks, bragging about how many times you’ve been vaccinated, and reporting fellow citizens for wrongthink.
The viral gene therapies are not safe and are untested, and the only reason they were deployed is because the government sought an emergency use authorization.
As I recall just after WW2 a number of Germans were executed for carrying out relatively small-scale medical experiments on people – and yes, they were very unpleasant experiments. Now we have governments carrying out a massive mandatory medical experiment on whole populations.
Where will be the justice?
Now we have governments carrying out a massive mandatory medical experiment on whole populations.
Take your pick, massive experiment with some promising vaccines which have been demonstrated to save lives without leaving any of the side effects of the coronavirus, or massive experiment with the novel coronavirus.
Vaccines don’t need to be mandated. They shouldn’t be mandated, in fact. But nor was COVID mandated. And if you don’t choose the former option, you are at a much greater risk from the latter.
It’s a shit choice, but that’s what life throws at you.
Take your pick.
Pixar has always been one of those weird companies that’s actually making movies for adults, not children. There’s a subtle but important difference between making a movie for kids and inserting parent-targeted jokes to keep the adults entertained, and making a movie for adults that looks like a kids’ film.
As C S Lewis observed somewhere, no book is worth reading as a child unless it is also worth reading as an adult.
The Australian show ‘Bluey’ is one of the latest and best examples of a show that is made for both kids and their parents. The creator described it as ‘Peppa Pig for grown ups’. It’s very very funny and some episodes are so surprisingly moving that they leave you in tears. It’s bizarre being left an emotional wreck by a kids show, but there you go.
Highly recommended!
Daniel Ream: thanks for the concise explication, accurate to the best of my knowledge and damning. An additional point that should be made, regarding WTP’s and Farnsworth’s comments: in the past, whenever possible, medicine’s focus was treatment, however iffy (bloodletting, leeches,
dung plasters and mercury come to mind) — the point was treatment, not wandering off saying “um, call somebody if you think you’re going to die…”, which is where we are now. The corner our elites have painted us into means that they literally cannot admit (and allow) ANY treatment to be applied, for fear lest it bring the whole edifice of lies crashing down. Treating doctors have testified hour after hour before bodies up to Congress and back, and to no avail, except to drive the authorities to forbid legal access to any treatment at all. We’re down to waiting til we get sick enough for a hospital, then we get a bed til we need an ICU, then the services of an undertaker. If we ever start thinking about the thousands of people who might have survived with Joe Rogan’s interventions, we’ll start hanging anyone we can get our hands on.
You know what the tell is? Every therapy that’s been advanced has first been scoffed at, then sidelined by demands for “clinical trials” (which for some reason seem unnecessary for “vaccines”), and then the clinical trials, which are scrupulously designed to ignore every protocol described by actual treating doctors as efficacious, are pronounced to prove the therapy totally useless. Then the treatment itself is outlawed and made unavailable. I would have far less faith in HCQ or Ivermectin as valid treatments if the “clinical trials” hadn’t rejected every rational approach and instead gone with administering close to toxic doses of the meds to already hospitalized patients actually in extremis, then blandly announcing that, well, it just didn’t work, too bad so sad.
I have been sickened by the whole evil farce, and appalled by the fact that most of the medical community seems to be complicit in it.

Daniel Ream:
I thought you were in Ottawa – I don’t know the geography, but other than bordering on a foreign country, I wasn’t aware of geographical constraints to development. By comparison, I am in Vancouver – we have mountains, an ocean, and a international border on three sides (and the mountains tend towards the border – so we only have the three sides for development). On top of that, we have decided to dedicate what could be homes for people as homes for crops – but that’s a self-inflicted injury.
massive experiment with some promising vaccines which have been demonstrated to save lives without leaving any of the side effects of the coronavirus
You have to be trolling, and the clue that you are is the Suspiciously Specific Qualifier “side effects of the coronavirus“. You know full well the vaccines have massive, occasionally fatal side effects that would have had them yanked months ago and the drug companies sued out of existence if not for the EUA and the liability waiver.
massive experiment with the novel coronavirus
As I’ve said in other fora if this virus is so all-fired dangerous, where are all the bodies? We know from direct testimony and documentary evidence that the death counts are being artificially inflated, but if there’s one thing twenty years of police procedurals have taught me it’s that it’s really, really hard to hide a body. So where are all the bodies? The giant pits full of Kung Flu victims bulldozed under with quicklime? The hospital hallways full of dying victims crammed in so deep there’s nary an inch for a dancing nurse to make a TikTok video? The smokestacks of crematoria running 24/7, belching greasy smoke into the air in every major city?
If this virus is Cap’n Tripps and we’re in the early chapters of The Stand, why are the 2020 mortality rates statistically indistinguishable from 2019? If it’s so virulent, why did 80-85%% of the people on the Diamond Princess and the USS Theodore Roosevelt never develop any symptoms despite being crammed into close quarters with a shared ventilation system?
At what point do we start acknowledging that we’ve had bananas in our ears for the last two years?
I thought you were in Ottawa
Halton Region. Escarpment, lake, and provincially protected greenbelt on three sides, and farmland on the fourth.
You know full well the vaccines have massive, occasionally fatal side effects that would have had them yanked months ago and the drug companies sued out of existence if not for the EUA and the liability waiver.
Quite. I think that’s why the FDA didn’t actually approve the Pfizer vaccine, they merely extended the EUA on it, and then also “approved” a non-existent future vaccine that currently does not exist. [Reading the actual FDA statement rather than the news/ propaganda will confirm]
How can they approve a vaccine that doesn’t exist? I presume it’s because the new vaccine will actually be exactly the same as the current one. Someday. Maybe.
It’s a buffoonish bluff. Pfizer needs the EUA or they’ll be sued out of existence, but the govt wants to be able to tell you to get the shot because it’s approved now. So they tried to take fake it, instead.
Now word has got out. E.g. Nurses are now demanding to be told they’re being fired for refusing the shot, which would open their hospital to lawsuits for demanding an experimental treatment as a condition of employment. And the hospital admin daren’t do that. Stalemate.
One soon to be applied to all businesses in the US with 100+ employees.
As C S Lewis observed somewhere, no book is worth reading as a child unless it is also worth reading as an adult.
Found the original:
“It is usual to speak in a playfully apologetic tone about one’s adult enjoyment of what are called ‘children’s books’. I think the convention a silly one. No book is really worth reading at the age of ten which is not equally (and often far more) worth reading at the age of fifty–except, of course, books of information. The only imaginative works we ought to grow out of are those which it would have been better not to have read at all.”

……there are a lot of radical feminists …..
In a recent conversation with ‘a lady’ who described herself as a radical feminist, I asked her what was the difference between a feminist and a radical femnist. She replied that if I didn’t know that, then that proves I’m a fascist. So, as she never really amswered the question, could anyone tell this fascist what the difference is, as I still have no idea?
You know full well the vaccines have massive, occasionally fatal side effects
As, as stated, does Covid. I am as opposed to these mandates as much as anybody. But while not a fan of the vaccines, especially the mRNA ones, the risk from even the mRNA ones for those in vulnerable situations…which is still a sizable number of people…is still less than the covid threat. There’s tons of BS on this and as much as I hate to say “on both sides” in this case it’s true. Give a placebo to 150 million people, people slanted to being vulnerable in the first place, and some of those 150 million are gonna die soon after. It’s a numbers game. That doesn’t mean that there isn’t significant concern there but it also doesn’t mean it’s not a very good option for many people. Just as ivermectin (which I’m not convinced of) or HCQ (which I’m kind of convinced of) are not “proven” and may, in certain circumstances…usually overdose circumstances…can be dangerous themselves they should be available to anyone who wants them. I personally know 3 people who died from Covid, one a healthy 32 year old and another very healthy, and vaccinated, 65 year old And I have a 32 year old cousin who is slowly getting better but still, after 3-4 weeks now….after 2-3 weeks on a ventilator, was just getting his motor skills back. For the first time Friday he was able to touch his hands together and yesterday they did get him to sit up on the side of his bed. Today they’re going to try to have him stand up.
As for where are the bodies? Unless the CDC is simply Making stuff up entirely, not that I wouldn’t put it past them but someone trustworthy would have caught it by now, the excess deaths are significantly higher since 3/2020. I was tracking this info through fall of last year. It is quite obvious something is amiss and it is huge. While I believe the (US) 600K figure is inflate by anywhere from 15-25% that still is a very significant thing. And I lay this disaster at the feet of the CCP. And Xi specifically. Fuck China. But don’t be literally whistling past the graveyard. This thing is real. Also, fuck China…and Pooh Bear Xi specifically.
I say “since 3/2020” but remembering better now…deaths were beginning to rise in October or November of 2019 before jumping even more significantly higher in mid -2020. And yes, I had adjusted my baseline numbers for a “normal flu season”. Which is partly why I suspect either something else was/is going around and it’s under the radar or, what I have long suspected, this thing got here shortly after the Wuhan “accident”. Or a combination of the two. I have seen references to some sort of military style Olympic style competition that China supposedly hosted, IIRC somewhere close to Wuhan. Never verified that but it also seems suspicious.
She replied that if I didn’t know that, then that proves I’m a fascist.
“Well if you explain it to me, then I’ll know, and I won’t be a fascist any more. And you’ll have won a great victory by eliminating a fascist. So why not tell me?”
A belated ping and such. David, depending on the whether and which’s of your dislike for Prometheus, you may find one of the fan edits, with the cut/edited portions replaced, more to your liking. As a died in the wool misanthrope and fan of perfect organisms, I didn’t hate it, but found the edits to be more satisfying. Alien was excellent, but written to pull in women, I suspect, thus SW becomes a very capable leader and action hero, although, there is no indicator that this potential is in the character’s background. Instant action hero, just add h2o, erm, xeno/exomorph. As an equally (mildly) derisive aside, Memory: The Origins of Alien has some wrong-headed assertions about the facehuggers and male fear of rape, which seem more than likely a reaction by the woman making the statement to violent and rape-suggestive imagery centering around one Ellen Ripley. One must identify with the character, and ‘be empowered,’ not feel helpless and outraged, one suspects. Couldn’t be the natural dislike of being ill, parasitic infestation, or having things tear their way out of or into one’s flesh, it must be a male fear of alien rape. Bizarre mythos the academe have created to live in. [pours 2 fingers of Springbank 10, neat]

Bless you. May you never be short of lens wipes. Or fridge deodorisers. Or those plastic clippy things to reseal biscuits, bread bags, and so forth.
The calculations are off. 1730m in 44 seconds is only 76 kt or 140 km/h. The video title says he was doing 245 km/h which is 132 kt.
