Those Meddling Parents
Faced with complaints from parents about the indoctrination of children, an official in Rockwood School District, Missouri, instructed teachers to create two sets of curriculum: a false one to share with parents, and then the real set of curriculum, focused on topics like activism and privilege.
These instructions were sent to all middle and high school principals in the district. “This is not being deceitful,” wrote Natalie Fallert, the official in question, before adding, “I hate that we are even having to have this conversation.”
It occurs to me that when your solution to such complaints includes the words “so parents cannot see it,” it may be time to revisit your assumptions. A subsequent non-apology, issued by a different official when the instructions to deceive became more widely known, insisted that the school district views parents as “allies” in the education of “our children.”
An unhappy phrasing, all things considered.
“Prior to the pandemic you didn’t send everything home or have it available. You taught in your classroom and things were peachy keen”
For who?
Unless they’re also instructing the students to lie to their parents, which I wouldn’t put past these jerks, the jig is up as soon as any parent asks their child “what did you learn in school today?”
insisted that the school district views parents as “allies” in the education of “our children.”
Pro tip. They aren’t *your* children.
Pro tip: They aren’t your ‘allies’.
What I did not get from the article was whether they fired her.

Oh Stephanie, that right there will be her sweet ticket to a big fat promotion. The people getting fired or ostracised in their work place are the people who disagree or voice dissent.
Someone needs to send her a dictionary – if she looks up the word ‘deceit’ in it, a tiny little mirror is placed there for her edification….
The Arizona solution to idiot school boards.
I bad high hopes that the lockdowns would tear away the veil for parents. Yes, *this* is what your kids are “learning” in school. Alas, turns out parents pay as much attention to Zoom school as their kids (here in AINO, at least, reports sneaked out that some huge percentage of kids never even logged on. Not once. They were passed on to the next grade, of course, because social justice. Come The Reckoning, “teachers” must be very high on Madame Defarge’s list).

Hell yes!!!
I bad high hopes that the lockdowns would tear away the veil for parents.
Well it did to some degree. But remember, most parents these days are all-in with this nonsense. They were raised and “educated” on it much like the teachers. Personally, I don’t trust anyone under 90.
“Unless they’re also instructing the students to lie to their parents…”
” – Oh, that’s just for now; after next election, we’ll be asking students to report and denounce their parents. I mean seriously, it worked so well during the cultural revolution!”
In the UK, for years now, schools ahd teachers have been using acronyms seamlessly in both conversation at “Parents’ Evenings” and in letters, round-robins, reports and conversations.
This is to introduce the private language of “managementspeak” into what parents are told about how their kids are doing. It’s designed to obscure, rather than to illumiate, meaning and information about what kids are taught, how they respond, what their progress is, and so on.
“Callum is under-achieving on his CAU-scores…”
“Oliver has got his next CAP3 assessment in three weeks, so he needs to revise…” [Revise what?] “He needs to revise for the CAP3 topics, which are P2, P4 and P6/a…”
Parents? Why should “parents” have any standing in the education-indoctrination system?
The concept of parents descends from the white supremacist colonization of the social space which privileges biological inheritance and ownership of children. This concept is rejected and nullified.
It is replaced with “adult guardian” having specified duties and outcome expectations in return for stipends and tax credits. Guardianship may be reassigned at any time on the authority of the State Juvenile Protectorate.

Previously and not entirely unrelated.
The first speaker, Sarah Knopp, a teacher, Marxist and Occupier, tells us she wants to peddle the “enlightenment” of communism to the children in her care. Because when they believe as she does – and only as she does – then they’ll be “critical thinkers.” Then they’ll be “emancipated,” just like her. The second speaker, Megan Behrent, merely intends to subvert the proprieties of the classroom in order to propagate her own communist politics at someone else’s expense. The preferences of parents, students, and those who her pay her salary are to be circumvented in the name of “social justice.” Again, the students in her care will be “thinking for themselves” when they think and act “radically,” i.e., just like her.
And on the subject of what parents aren’t told – as if they didn’t count, as if the children weren’t theirs – this and this.

And that was from 10 years ago. But it took this pandemic and Zoom classes for people to finally “see” it? I understand people are busy, but I guaran-damn-tee you someone…someone a lot like me…pointed this sort of thing out to a few people who only NOW are suddenly SHOCKED, SHOCKED I SAY at what has been going on in the schools for some number much greater than 10 years. Better late than never…almost.

In a perfect world, the solution to malicious school boards would be for concerned parents to band together, run for the school boards, and turf out these neo-Marxist clowns and their curricula.
That’s been tried a couple of times here in the Deranged Dominion, but it always fails because very few people actually vote in school board elections; this makes it easy for the teachers’ unions to mobilize and vote en masse against any candidate that presumes to take away their iron rice bowl. There are a lot of teachers, teachers’ aides, day care workers, school administrative staff, etc., etc. in any district, enough that they control most local elections – and provincial ones, too.
I remain convinced that public sector unions are a powerful lever. Destroy them, and the balance of power shifts back to the people.
There are a lot of teachers, teachers’ aides, day care workers, school administrative staff, etc., etc. in any district…
Man, you ain’t lying.
In a previous life, I spent too much time looking at municipal bond documents. There’s a requirement that most Official Statements include a list of the top employers in the issuing jurisdiction. (It’s meant as a way for buyers to see if a town is dependent on a single employer which may be at risk of going under and taking the town with it.) Once you get outside of the metropolitan areas, it’s common that the largest employer in any given town is the school district.
When turnout for an off-election is under 20%, and 10% of your voters work for the district, and another 5 or 6 percent are married to those workers, it should come as no surprise that success rarely comes to those who promise to make teachers and administrators more accountable.

The radical left has done a lot of harm by simply doing so much harm that it can’t be believed. They have taken refuge in audacity. And so when normal people hear that their children are being told to hate themselves because they’re white, and that communism is all sunshine and rainbows, people think it’s just propaganda. Obviously, nobody is that crazy. And when the mask falls and an individual is shown for what he is, well, that’s just a single lone lunatic. Obviously this person isn’t representative of the whole of them.
I don’t think it’s an intentional tactic, just a sort of ‘evolutionary’ system of “What works will continue to work”. And so rather than having to be dialed back, the radicalism spread simply because it was more radical.
The question is, what is moving at a faster pace? The revelation as to how evil these people are? Or the power they have to quash dissent?
…suddenly SHOCKED, SHOCKED I SAY at what has been going on in the schools…
This seems to be one of those areas where people just refuse to admit that things could be so bad in their own neighborhood. We see it reflected in survey results all the time. “What do you think of Congress?” “IT SUCKS!” “Well, what do you think of your Congressman?” “Oh, he’s not that bad.”
Same thing with schools. Phi Delta Kappa has been doing annual surveys for 50 years, where they ask people to grade schools A, B, C, D, or Fail. For decades, “public schools” in general get A and B grades from around 20-25% of participants, while “my local public schools” get A and B grades from 45-50%. Those with kids in school give As and Bs at around 70%!
When your sense of hometown pride, your kid’s future success, and your property values are tied so closely to school quality, you’ll overlook a lot to maintain the illusion that everything is great.
They have taken refuge in audacity.
Heh. That.
The facts around thug Brown’s death are not in dispute. Indeed, from the moment of the video of Brown assaulting the half-his-size store owner for the owner’s audacity on insisting payment for things in his store, the “hands up don’t shoot” line was considered bogus.
But a catchy narrative never needs to die – just go undercover until it becomes urban legend.

One of the most painful things of the last year has been the realization that, not only are things getting worse, but they’ve been way worse than I realized (or was willing to admit) for a long time. That the corruption runs so very deep, for so long, and that I may have never lived in the country I thought I did.
Perhaps I’m overcompensating, and things aren’t that bad. But watching the country burn for months while the Democrats actively support it has forced me to reconsider everything I’ve ever believed.
Changing your mind and worldview is hard enough, even if the new world view is better, or simply different. But changing it to accept that things are much, much worse? It’s driving me mad, and I can’t blame anyone for shutting down and refusing to see it. It won’t solve the problem, but for many people, accepting it will only serve to break them.
It’s driving me mad, and I can’t blame anyone for shutting down and refusing to see it. It won’t solve the problem, but for many people, accepting it will only serve to break them.
Heh. My life and welcome to it. Only my issue has been that I recognized this problem was going on decades ago. My only coping mechanism for the last several decades was the “hope” that I was seeing things wrong. After all, everyone else around me wasn’t seeing this. Now…NOW…I see these same people waking up and asking the questions I was asking them off and on for decades. Especially as many of these people are former coworkers and especially former bosses who had the power to actually have some degree of impact if they just would have opened their damn eyes. Learning that I was wrong to think that there was a probability that I was wrong is the real terror.
It takes a marxist-communist village to raise a child. Submit.

Well not quite. Consider in the West the notable absence of 13th floors in residential and commercial buildings. We all know that triskaidekaphobia is based on myth and bogus beliefs – and yet here we are, remote helicopters on Mars, but no 13th floor in your buildings. Once the lies become internalized, they rarely get disputed it’s just easier to go with the new flow. What response do you get when you argue against omitting the 13th floor ? Sure it’s illogical, but no one will push for any changes – “it’s not the end of the world” type of response. We are at that point with all of the BLM and legacy “thug heroes”, people just find it easier to ignore and accept the new reality. The combination of slippery slop and the Long March through the institutions.
Not parody …
and again proving that the Left-Racial-Industrial Complex is a rich one open to any woke grifter.
To think I would sarcastically challenge people on if we should all list our Pantone Color code on social media. Dear lord.
Consider in the West the notable absence of 13th floors in residential and commercial buildings.
In Japan that would be the 4th floor. The human need for superstition is strong.
The Racial Literacy Curriculum…
What?
What response do you get when you argue against omitting the 13th floor ?
I have seen buildings with 13th floors. Usually office buildings, much rarely hotels though. I believe the problem lies more with potential renters/guests having the superstition than the building owners themselves caring. They just want to rent the space out. It’s the market that is the issue. What’s even more interesting/prevalent/often encountered is in Japan the bad luck number is 4. So no 4th floors in a lot more buildings. AIUI, or did at the time when I was there 30 years ago, Japanese even have an aversion to socializing in groups of 4. Which seems like it would be a bit awkward/limiting.

In a just world every public school board would be jailed for child abuse – along with most public school employees.
The question is, what is moving at a faster pace? The revelation as to how evil these people are? Or the power they have to quash dissent?
Perhaps the issue is to what extent their views are outside the mainstream? Perhaps we are now realising- too late- that they are the emerging mainstream?
If only the under 40s had the vote, Bernie Sanders would be in his 2nd term as US president; Jeremy Corbyn would be UK PM; and in the Soggy Isle, Sinn Fein and an assortment of Trotskyites would be in power.
How about “soggy Trotskyites”?

“The federal Department of Education, on April 19, proposed a new rule to prioritize grant applications from school districts to implement critical race theory, the 1619 Project, and anti-racism into civics curriculum. This continues the Biden administration’s concerted effort to reverse Trump-era prohibitions on critical race theory in trainings throughout the federal government, and support for the advancement of critical race theory in federally funded programs.”
