Defending Maidens
The words “overly judge” seem to be doing quite a bit of heavy lifting.

I don’t think she’s a maiden. 🙂
It’s the comical implication that we mustn’t notice the obvious, indeed unmissable, and act accordingly – we mustn’t register the signals being screamed at us. In this case, “Mental wreckage, best avoided.” Or, “Not an ideal babysitter.”
Instead, we must pretend.
That’s a look that won’t age well.
The lady in question is Ms Nadine Anderson. Her taste in art is perhaps rather telling.
Not entirely unrelated:
And in the comments there, bonus Minnow. Whose charms I’d forgotten.
There was a time when I did find a heavily tattooed girl more alluring than one that was not. That phase of life neatly ended the only time I ever fell in love – not lust, nor simple fondness, nor any other thing I before then could have mistaken for approaching love, but real and absolute love. When it came to that one individual my preference became very quickly to see her as she was made by nature. I had absolutely no desire to see her skin inked or a single birth or beauty mark removed. The one occasion when she suggested that she might one day want to have her tits implanted with silicone left me largely bemused and slightly horrified, at any possible reason why and at the prospect of this ever actually happening, respectively. The idea of anyone, anywhere, at any time encouraging her towards such insecurities and going down the road towards abasing herself to them made me want to start sending people down stairwells cutting throats. It goes without saying that I also preferred to see her, as often as was even remotely reasonable or at least somehow vaguely excusable, completely and absolutely naked.
Older and slightly wiser I perceive girls like the one pictured as being on the submissive of a toxic collective relationship. Any toxic individual relationships that coincide with that are merely the result parasites, predators, and carrion eaters, negative opportunists, following their nature.

I recently discovered micro-fibre cloths. For the first time in months, my keyboard crevices are shockingly clean.
Do you recommend taking the keycaps off?

I wasn’t that adventurous. A quick, half-arsed wipe did the trick.

Had to google “Angus Champion de Crespigny”. Interesting LinkedIn profile:
I can’t wait to get out of the business world. It’s becoming harder and harder to have a conversation with people, even about just business, and especially hiring decisions, without feeling like I’m constantly walking on egg shells. Too much freak love at some of the highest levels. Leave the fire behind/Swim out past the breakers/Watch the world die. I’ll be doing it in the mountains though. Or so I tell myself.
Crap, that reminds me I have to buy toilet paper.

Meanwhile, Elgintensity had his latest video on trans athletes pulled by YouTube, probably because he ran the interview with the winner:

We ought to try summoning him. Do we have to sacrifice something?
I assumed he attained the next stage of his metamorphosis and now walks these parts in a different form.

Yep.
GH usually lasts a couple of weeks before his Twitter stalker finds him and squeals to the Stasi.

Buy a 1986 era IBM AT keyboard. Remove key caps. Place keyboard in dishwasher key face down. Place the key caps in the cutlery cage, and run it through a standard rinse cycle. Give it 2-3 hours to dry, and you’re set.
Works for keyboards up to about the year 2000.
For those without dishwashers, fill your bathtub with warm water to a depth of six inches. Remove the key caps, and immerse the keyboard entirely for 3-4 hours. You can put the key caps in a sealed Tupperware container with hot water and a shot of dishwashing detergent. Seal the tupperware, shake for 30 seconds, then rinse the key caps off.
Good for removing years of keyboard plaque.

Them, and the Farcebook NKVD who keep ganking his pages.
Back to the original topic, I do find it odd that responding to obvious social signals is frowned on. Why would you choose to make such a signal if not to elicit the obvious response? It’s like wasps complaining when they’re not invited to parties.

Well, indeed. If people are sending you fairly loud and unambiguous social signals, or antisocial signals, it seems unwise to pretend that they aren’t in fact there – quite literally staring you in the face. And yet this is a common ‘progressive’ pretence, as aired above and in the linked thread – that you should act as if compulsive facial tattooing and other gross self-disfiguration weren’t, like cutting, a kind of distress signal, a warning of something amiss.
But then leftist psychology is very much about pretending, and pretending not to see, with all that follows from that. It’s fundamentally dishonest and tends toward the neurotic.

Reminds me of the first time I saw Jimmy Saville on television. I moved to the UK from the US in the mid-90s, and have to say that I honestly could not believe that anyone took him seriously let alone put him on TV, although he was mostly on a downward trajectory by then.
My wife, then girlfriend, explained the ‘Jim’ll Fix It’ past and the charity work, etc… and I said something like, “So, does no one mind he’s obviously a paedophile then?” I mean, I’m not Sherlock Holmes, or Sigmund Freud, but you only had to look at the man to know something was up and perhaps unfettered access to children might not be advisable.

And yet it’s a fairly common tactic among many psychologists. Imagine that.
And yet it’s a fairly common tactic among many psychologists.
Psychology, especially social psychology, is a very left-leaning activity. Which is a little ironic, insofar as it suggests that quite a few psychologists and psychology lecturers must spend a lot of time tiptoeing around the kind of facts that psychologists ought to know about – the heritability and distribution of IQ, assortative mating, etc. – and which rather dent many root assumptions of leftism.

Hence the volcanic hatred for Jordan Peterson.
especially social psychology
Assumed to have the same professionalism? That’s quite the leap right there. And that’s putting aside the quite obviously suspect (to me) level of honesty in those previously stated self-reporting surveys “rarely” finding evidence that left-leaning academics discriminate on the basis of politics. It’s like asking priests (Catholic or otherwise, or psychologists for that matter) if their profession has a problem with sexual exploitation. Us? Why no. Of course there are some outliers but…do you not see how insulting your question is?
Why would you choose to make such a signal if not to elicit the obvious response?
It’s a form of displacement. These people feel deeply, fundamentally broken/disfigured in some other way. It’s usually a result of childhood abuse, but survivor guilt is also a driver. They’re convinced that everyone can see this disfigurement and is judging them for it.
By creating an even more obvious and blatant form of disfigurement, they achieve two goals: punishment for their imagined inadequacy or guilt, and deflecting your attention from their internal insecurity to the external self-mutilation. And if they can convince you the external self-mutilation is normal, accetpable, or even beautiful, then they can convince themselves their internal insecurities are the same.
Above, the question of Steve came up.
I think the only place he presently comments is at Tim Worstall. I guess work and family are taking up his time.
Another joint he supported was Vox Day’s. Gone quiet there too.
I am sure he is still reading, and we will hear from him again.

…you only had to look at [Jimmy Savile] to know something was up …
Jimmy Savile was guilty of the most egregious crimes against fashion and taste. And that’s the entire extent of his wrongdoing. Being a bit odd, even creepy, is thankfully not yet punishable by imprisonment. During the recent abuse hysteria the police spent two years investigating him and came up with nothing. That his family was deprived of his estate that was instead squandered on lawyers and a few compensation hunters is a disgrace.
Trevor, I’m afraid it’s your word against the laundry list of allegations listed in Wikipedia, complete with its own page.
Uma, anyone can make an allegation. We’ve recently seen one fantasist belatedly jailed for 18 years for concocting vile stories about a number of public figures, but not before he inflicted a great deal of distress on his victims. His stories were transparently ridiculous and it’s to the police’s eternal shame that they took him seriously. They seemed childishly gullible and eager to believe anything. That they were unable to bring charges against Savile speaks volumes. The cowards waited until he died to traduce his reputation. I’m not sure if you ever read Anna Racoon’s blog but she had personal knowledge of one of Jimmy’s alleged ‘victims’ who was a provable liar.

In 40 years have known one adult female who both claimed to maintain her maidenhead and who never gave reason to doubt it. She was a pretty little blonde punk chick saving the full monty for marriage while working towards becoming a constitutional lawyer.
As far as I gather she is now a pretty blonde wife and successful constitutional lawyer.
Trevor, thanks for the link. I’ll take a look. I don’t intend to condemn Saville out of hand, especially when so many police departments failed to do anything about it when something could be done one way or another.
In fact, given the numerous links on this site alone to various examples of police behavior — hiding in cars while a slasher murders a policeman outside, spending resources tracking Twitter posts, accused of covering up a massive child sex abuse ring — one hesitates to trust them with guarding an empty box, much less, you know, fighting crime.
Another delightful young lady sending signals. Just not the ones she thinks she’s sending.

They do indeed exist, and they are vastly more common than Progressives who sincerely want to protect the free speech rights of those they disagree with.
