But Don’t Call Them Hysterical
Victoria Stroup reports a harrowing turn of events at Edgewood College, Madison, Wisconsin:
Staff from the student conduct, human resources, Title IX, and diversity offices were brought together so they could decide how to respond to the “hateful message.” According to [Vice President for Student development, Tony] Chambers, “the group determined that the message constituted a hate crime, based on guidelines from the Jeanne Clery Act and state law.” He adds the group acted according to college policy and reported the incident to the Madison, Wisconsin Police Department, which is currently investigating it as a “hate crime,” and that it is also being investigated through the college’s Student Conduct Process.
The item deemed so incendiary and deserving of endless meetings and even police involvement? Amid post-election campus hysteria, some wag had left a pink Post-It note on a window, bearing four words: “Suck it up, pussies.”
I’ve been triggered by the post-it note of death.
You do have to wonder what it would take for such people to register the disproportion and absurdity of their own behaviour. I mean, when you’re calling the police to report a pink Post-It note – one that mocks overreaction and self-inflated drama – you’d think there might be some dim flickering of awareness.
I’ve been committing similar hate crimes on the Guardian comment pages since June. I highly recommend it.

Apparently, it’s “an act of cowardly hatred” and a “targeted act of intimidation.”
Whoever gets arrested ought to show up to court dressed like Mrs. Slocombe. Not that the American courts would get the reference.
These people are insane.
These people are insane.
It doesn’t suggest a particularly healthy environment. Or one that’s worth close to $40,000 a year.
I suppose what grates isn’t just the waste of police time, or the attempt by administrators and “diversity” clowns to justify their own positions and salaries. It’s the fact that they’re cultivating an atmosphere of neurotic hypersensitivity. One premised on the conceit that hair-trigger outrage and lunatic self-involvement are both socially acceptable and a badge of piety, and of status. They’re exploiting credulous teenagers in a way that’s somewhere between a con and psychological abuse.
So, if this is the reaction to a post-it note with no express personal threats, where do they go emotionally when something really bad happens?
How do they know it was a “hateful message” ? Perhaps some of the ladies of the college are feeling, shall we say, neglected; it could be more of a suggestion like, “Drink Coke™”, of “Got Milk”.
Why, it’s practically a lynching.
you’d think there might be some dim flickering of awareness.
And you’d be wrong.
Remember, the difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to be consistent and believable.

Quite all right. We Canadians, at least those of us of a certain age, have been served, too.
It is quite subtle but clear that it was a “hate crime” BECAUSE it “..was placed on the inside window of the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion.”
It would be hilarious if it was discovered to be an “inside” job.
They are just proving what life-sucking,pussified leeches they are. I pray that reality slaps them upside the head with a 2×4,and hard. This is what we call academic teaching? More like leftie indoctrination. Stalin et.al would be so proud.

The insularity and groupthink of the people who consider themselves the elite is absolutely mind-boggling. As one commenter there points out, if Hillary Clinton had been elected, you would not have seen any articles about how high-school students are trying to grapple with the fact that they will live in a country run by a corrupt and incompetent kleptocrat – as indeed we also did not see when Obama was elected and then re-elected, even though there must have been some people who were dissatisfied since almost half of the country voted for the other guy. What the Washington Post is doing is projecting (as lefties do), and, as usual, enrolling the children in their specious crusade.
Why, it’s practically a lynching.
If that is the actual note, it was clearly written by a woman, and I am sticking to my theory.
it was clearly written by a woman,
We must BURN THE WITCH!
Meanwhile, the “hate crime” hoaxes continue to pile up.
Mr. Muldoon: it was clearly written by a woman
On what basis do you say that? the color of the post-it note? the cutesy emoticon? the calligraphy?
How very sexist of you. Denounce yourself, you patriarchal oppressor.
It was the colour of the post-it. No-one would’ve paid any attention if it was the common-or-garden yellow.
First we must place her in the scales with a duck.
Mr. Muldoon: it was clearly written by a woman
That is Dr. Muldoon, I didn’t go to 8 years of Shitlord Medical School to be called Mr., thank you very much.
‘Hate crime’ has become ‘anything we don’t like’ to the left/liberal/progressive hysterics.
I agree with Dr. Muldoon: the offender is a woman. No man would draw a winkie smiley face. The tongue sticking out negates any possibility of it being a false flag operation carried out by a Guild of Evil Shitlord. This witch walks among us.
If this were truly the work of a patriarchal shitlord, it would be white and not pink. No such man worth his salt would stoop to a post-it of color. Also, only the best gothic calligraphy.
No, harassing smiley faces will be henceforth on notes as white as our grand cispatriarchohetpremacy. Also, smileys are to have a mustache, because we’re literally Hitler. I mean, there was a memo about this. On a white post-it.
Also informative, the lack of a comma. We are grammar Nazis as well.
“Suck it up, pussies.”
I once know this stripper, who had an act in which…oh nevermind.
The frequency, boldness, and severity with which hateful acts have been occurring has, for many, signaled a new era of intolerance, fear, and mistrust in higher education.
It’s worse than the holodomor and the holocaust combined!
Seriously though, these f**kers need to read some history to get an idea of what real oppression is.
The Mission statement, according to Wikipedia:
Need more be said?
The College educates students for meaningful personal and professional lives of ethical leadership…
I know a guy who teaches ethics at a university. Biggest sophist/weasel I’ve ever known. Worse than most teenagers. We need to stop subsidizing this nonsense. If people need to borrow money to go to college, let them borrow it on the free market from people who have a vested interest in at least getting their principle back.
I know a guy who teaches ethics at a university. Biggest sophist/weasel I’ve ever known.
Not unheard of — Anna Stubblefield is only the beginning. At my university the Ethics Professor was well known for trying to seduce all his female students.
My guess is that Ethics must be the softest option to get into Academic Philosophy, because it does seem to attract an extra large number of people who are completely unethical.
“…vested interest in at least getting their principle back.”
Sportacus, that’s your cue. Or is it?
maybe, just maybe if the advice offerred was actually taken, jut imagine the consequences.. meaningful lives, adult conversations, et al.Dicentra, she won’t fit on the scale with that carrot nose-
that’s your cue. Or is it?
I don’t know – there is also a principle worth getting back alongside the principal. That principle being, “stop sponging on the public and get to work, you useless collages of hair, discolored skin, piercings, and leftist failure”.
So, someone surreptitiously places said post-it note on a window in the Office of Student Diversity and Inclusion. Some staffer comes in and notices the note. Reads it. And instead of chuckling to herself, crumpling it up and tossing it, proceeds to take the note to her boss. Instead of making a wry face, crumpling it up and tossing it, the boss calls a staff meeting, it is discussed for some length of time. Instead of walking out of the conference room smirking and making light-hearted banter about what an idiot the boss is, they file a police report. Then, instead of chewing the reporters out for wasting their time, the Madison Police Department actually initiates an investigation.
I’m at a loss to describe these people.
principle: 2. a fundamental source or basis of something.
principal: 1. the person with the highest authority or most important position in an organization, institution, or group.
2.a sum of money lent or invested on which interest is paid.
So the principle source of the principal of the loan should come from the free market. My humblest Yank apologies for damage done to The Queen’s English. You know how we is so ignernt…
I’m at a loss to describe these people.
The word “sheep” comes to mind…Or is it spelled differently in this context? 😉
I would have said they were silly, but that doesn’t even scratch the surface of the absurdity of it all.
and a lifelong search for truth.
It’ll take a lot longer than that, given where they’re looking.
Question: is rap music banned on their campus?
The Sr. VP of Engineering at a former employer used to have a very short set of of questions he’d ask regarding proposals from staff. In particular,
“What’s the business case for that?”
So the reaction of the students is one thing, but the reaction of the various paid staffs is largely explainable by their business case: They get paid more, and get more power in their organizations, by being quick on the draw and maximally noisy about these trivial matters.
After all, it’s a lot easier and safer to do that, than to learn how to make effective changes aligned with their published, official goals.
For some reason, I was reminded of this old 7-Up commercial.
And then of course there’s this:
Because being disagreed with makes fearlessly ‘progressive’ students “feel vulnerable and distressed.”
‘Hate crime’ has become ‘anything we don’t like’ to the left/liberal/progressive hysterics
There’s this extraordinary fuzzy logic on the Left – things that are ‘ambiently true’ as we discovered on these pages a while back.
A US TV personality opined on Twitter today that Farage couldn’t be the UK Ambassador to the US (an unusual idea, I grant you) because he was had of UKIP “the UK version of the KKK”
I think she’s working on the principle that enough of her friends will support her so it doesn’t matter if what she says is er.. not precisely correct.
Another election review . . .

. . . and an answer has surfaced as to how that horrible demon Trump could have possibly managed to collect the election.
Granted, after awhile I only skimmed my way through the explanation, but apparently it’s all the fault of Doctor Strange.
Doctor Strange? So it was about Obamacare!
but apparently it’s all the fault of Doctor Strange.
Something tells me that the “cultural moment” that Mr Higgins refers to – and which, rather tellingly, he assumes must be shared by every single person reading his article – may differ from the experience of quite a few readers here. Untroubled as they are, so far as I can tell, by “a post-apocalyptic moment of shock” and “inconceivable trauma.”
Still, I do like his descriptions of the film. Which, incidentally, was great fun.
Oh and speaking of actual students and faculty doing actual working studies, Stephen Wolfram discusses Ramanujan.
Once the police investigation is complete what will happen to the offending Post-It note? Will it be returned to the college for purification or will it remain in a police unsolved crime file folder?
Dr. Strange? You’re sh*tting me. Seriously? FFS I explicitly asked…which retroactively…never mind…yes, credit note only. The Truman Show yet again…
