Getting Down With The Cool Kids
As some of you may be interested in this kind of thing, I now have a Gab account. I’m not entirely sure what to do with it as yet, but there we are.

I’m in the sign-up queue.
Er… what’s gab?
Er… what’s gab?
A nascent alternative to Twitter.
Thanks, David.
I don’t want an alternative to Twitter: I want no Twitter – a Twitter-free world.
Welcome.
I don’t want an alternative to Twitter: I want no Twitter – a Twitter-free world.
Setting aside Twitter’s political bias, which has become increasingly obvious in recent months, it’s just not my preferred format. I read a few accounts as part of my daily browsing and often find things of interest, but I’m too much of a gasbag for 140 characters or whatever the limit is. And I’m not sure I want to be perpetually engaged in lots of short, shouty arguments, all delivered one or two sentences at a time.
I suppose it appeals to people who can’t commit to blogging, or who don’t like blogging. But almost 10 years in, and thanks in large part to the commenters here, I still do.
I figure I’d follow you, then follow your followers, but most of the followers I already follow or follow me. Thinking about it, that follows.
Wonder what Milo makes of this. 🙂

sH2,
I read a rumor, allegedly started (likely in jest) by Milo himself, that he’s interested in buying 4Chan.
The Twitter format works fairly well for some, like David Burge (aka Iowahawk), who are good at witty (and/or satirical) one-liners.

Yes, he gives good pith.
Yeth.
Signed up, so I could
cyber stalkfollow David. I am #89528 in the waiting list, crikey.Unsurprisingly, Milo’s was the first Gab account to reach 10,000 followers.
I was an early sign-up, but I haven’t posted anything yet. Nonetheless, I have 9 followers.
I signed up and am #90-thousand-something in line. I had wondered whether the frustration with Twitter was really that widespread or mostly limited to a small group of politically active conservatives. I think the massive waiting list for Gab pretty much answers that question. There is obviously a lot of demand for a replacement Twitter. In other words, for what Twitter was before a few years ago.
I rather like your profile background. Even if, in my opinion, Diamonds Are Forever is the weakest Sean Connery Bond film.
Hey, I just followed you!

And that shot of Blofeld is indeed gorgeously done . . . . . .
Sooooo, for reference, ftumch, redlonghorn? Are y’all still in the queue?
I’m in.

Yay. I have followers. Now if anyone has any tips, pointers, words of warning, etc., this would be the place to share them.
I’m still bloody waiting…7 days and counting. 🙁

No land wars in Asia.

Don’t eat sandwiches you found on a bus.
Are y’all still in the queue?
Nope, got the email this morning confirming I was in. After also getting the “it may take two weeks” email yesterday.

Where are you located? Maybe it’s a geography thing. If you couldn’t tell from my username, I’m located in Texas.
Don’t eat sandwiches you found on a bus.
Heh. I’m assuming that knowledge was won the hard way, first hand.
Maybe it’s a geography thing.
Um. . . . ?? As I’ve commented over time, I’m in the SF Bay area, where if I.P. addresses are noted as part of the processing, that should show geography . . . and no idea from there . . .

Never fight a war on two fronts.
Joined the queue two or three weeks ago, got my acceptance on Saturday.

LOL
Never fight a war on two fronts.
Unless of course you are the US and/or UK and it’s WWII. But the sandwiches on a bus thing, you can take that to the bank.

The only edible thing I can remember finding on a bus was chewing gum. But you really had to get your nail in there to prise it off the seat.
OT but…

Heh. “Bring her back online.”
I’m in Paris. Maybe the French servers are on strike?

Be fair though, David, it was delicious with a certain tang that you didn’t get from the shop bought variety. The effort was well worth it, even removing fluff and hairs.

Maybe the servers are on their six weeks annual vacation.

At present, yes.
