Therapeutic Shredding
Of that “oppressive document,” the United States Constitution:
When this idea came up in our newsroom about campus administrators shredding the Constitution because it’s a trigger against students, we didn’t think people would actually fall for it. We underestimated just how stupid and politically correct these people are.
The impossibly fretful and neurotic student featured in the video is actually a journalist playing a role. The obliging administrators, including an Assistant Director of Equal Opportunity at Vassar College and a Director of Feminist Studies at Oberlin College, are quite real.
“I have to wait until my secretary comes back to be able to use the shredder.”
I think this says something about the state of academia.
I did consider an alternative title, “We, the Feeble…”
As Heather Mac Donald put it, what we’re seeing is a “co-dependent relationship between self-engrossed students and the adults whose careers consist of catering to that self-involvement”:
Assuming that at least some of these bureaucratic enablers have children of their own, you’d think they might recognise the opportunist dynamic. But apparently they don’t mind it at all. Indeed, they feed on it. And their departments swell accordingly.
Constitution = oppressive, racist, problematic.

To this point, Obama’s shredding of the Constitution has only been metaphorical. I’m sure he will appreciate the more literal approach.
Total fail.
The correct response: gales of laughter, followed by an ejection from my office. “Sorry, no time for stupid jokes.”

And we’ll see much, much more of it when the response to a student who fails to obey instructions should be, according to this ‘expert’, “They should have got a school counselor, a therapist on campus with a school counselor and a mental health officer to come to the school to deal with that child.”

Many of the “activists” in any flakey movement have convinced themselves that that’s what they’re doing- hence the lack of shame, embarrassment and regret for all the malignant shenanigans they get caught at. Hoffer was right about play-acting and spectacle.
