Friday Ephemera
World’s loudest belch - looped, obviously. // Judgmental bird. // The British Tripe Council. // Assorted moths and butterflies. // Autumn. // He say nummy nummy num. // Lamb demands petting. // The periodic table of hip-hop. // Rubber bands of note. // Your cardboard robot. // Drunk furniture. // Things in front of the Sun. // Astronomy factoid of the day. // Dashcam footage of note. // Hard disc of yore. // When water falls upwards. // The soap dispenser you’ve always wanted. // Ants and gel. // Joints for cats. // “Sitting is the new smoking.” // Tiny squid and other creatures. // Superman’s first appearance, 1938. // West end girls. // John and Sherlock. // Shake it, baby. // And finally, if you’re having a tough morning, take a moment or two to soothe yourself with this.
Dashcam footage of note.
Drunk furniture, drunk truck, same thing.
If ‘sitting is the new smoking ‘ – will there be calls to ban it in parks and public spaces?
take a moment or two to soothe yourself with this.
It’s not soothing me at all.
I’ll try the belch again.
John and Sherlock.
If John’s eyes move I’ll take a dozen.
If John’s eyes move I’ll take a dozen.
If they move independently I think we all will.
As someone with lower back pain, I’ve emailed the standing desk link to our HR person. They seem like a realy good idea.
Is smoking displacing Hitler as the comparative of choice when just saying that something is bad for you isn’t quite enough?
Will some internet thread eventually invert Godwins Law and make the claim that smoking is worse than Hitler? Or did I just do that?
And if smoking only causes cancer in 1 in 15 female smokers (as opposed to 1 in 11 men) does that make U.S. colleges, where 1 in 6 women are apparently raped and murdered, worse than smoking?
“And finally, if you’re having a tough morning, take a moment…” That was so bad I think you gave me cancer! What is it? A live feed from the inside of Minnows’ brain?
West end girls.
I like the singer’s udders.
“Autumn” is beautiful
World’s loudest belch – looped, obviously.
A fiver says that will be a ringtone by the end of today.
Benedict Cumberbatch.
Why?
He looks alien. Like David Bowie in “The Man Who Fell To Earth”, but not as pretty.
At least he’s a good actor. The guy who played Moriarty was terrible. He went to the same school of SHOUTY pantomime acting as the White Witch from the Beeb’s 1988 adaption of “The Lion, The Witch, And the Wardrobe”.
Mr-Ohms – For some reason, our fishy friend reminded me of that annoying kid from “Rushmore”.
Our little ant friends are working for the E.L.F. How nice…

Drunk furniture is very popular in this office. And the thrash metal cover of ‘West End Girls’.
As someone with lower back pain, I’ve emailed the standing desk link to our HR person. They seem like a realy good idea.
The standing desks can be interesting, and there are the varieties that crank up and down at whim.
What may be of interest is what I do, where what some co-workers do is sit and balance on the large exercise/yoga balls, and then what I did at one point was hijack one of the office chairs, pop the back off it, and since then I’ve been perching on what is basically my own stool with wheels . . .
One newly arriving co-worker did complain on my behalf, stating A chair with no back?!?!?! How do you stand for that?!?!?!
I quite logically pointed out that I don’t actually stand for it, I sit.

Because.
Because.
Oh, no, no, no . . . That’s Stop The Violins . . .
They’re a collection of ardent piano activists, and if they’d had a piano bench on hand to attack with, they’d have used that too . . .
Oh, and;
This undated photo provided by the Washington County, Pa., Jail . . . .
. . . . This undated photo??!?!?! The jail already has a collection of several of her pictures?!?!?
Anti-violence for me, but not for thee!
That metal cover of West End Girls is extraordinary – not so much for the music, but the people performing it. They would make the members of Kiss feel under-dressed.
…And that was Halloween. Or possibly it may not have been. http://foxct.com/2014/10/23/newington-schools-cancel-halloween-paradesparties/
Edit- sorry that was via NRO.
Re Newington CT, it’s gotten to the point where we celebrate all forms of bizarre dress and behavior in the context of every day life, but on the very day set aside for such, it’s a problem because it might offend someone. The barristas at the coffee shops who come to work ever day with half a hardware store pierced into their faces frighten me more than the 8 year olds dressed as Batman on Halloween.
“We want to make sure we’re inclusive of all kids.” – said School Principal Jeremy Visone – “The best way to do that was not to celebrate the holiday.”
