- You Can't Afford My Radical Life
Speaking as a member of the Etch-a-sketch (and Neil Young) generation, all I can say is … wow.
This Rhonda would be a terrible thing to have though, don’t you think? You’d never go outside again.
Looks like he’s got a thing for wireframe boobies. Cool though -I like the big hands.
There was a Neil Young generation? [ shudders ]
Gah, what was that horrible song? Couldn’t finish watching.
“Outside”? What is this “outside” you speak of?
Andrea
It’s a really fun film. I suggest you watch the whole thing with the sound turned down. Try whistling the theme tune to the Odd Couple.
I don’t know the name of the song. Most of Neil Young’s songs from that period are pretty interchangeable.
Come now, you remember outside. That’s the one where all the walls are further away and they arrest you if you aren’t wearing clothes.
“Out on the Weekend”, from the Harvest album. One of his best. Don’t know what the song has to do with the video, though.
Jesus, Neil Young.
“Southern California brings me down…”
If Neil Young is too distressing, you could always mute the clip and listen to this while you watch:

No? Too edgy?
Wow…people here sure are blaise about on of the most compelling rendering tools in all of human history. Although the fellow that created this video-short posseses the ilustrative prowess of Picasso, imagine this machine in the hands of a real artist…I must have one.
Czarmangis,
Why don’t you put a bumper sticker on your forehead that reads “complete idiot”. Picasso was unequivocally the greatest artist of the twentieth century, agreed on by almost every scholar of culture of the twentieth century. WTF are you? Also, the fellow who created these drawings IS a real artist.
Sorry, Jeddy, I have to go with Czarmangis there. Picasso had the artistic subtlety of a county fair chainsaw sculptor. That said, I am pretty blase about this most compelling rendering tool in all of human history.
It’s cool to watch, but…it seems like as a 3D tool, it might not be the best way to do things. Maybe this was just a limited sample of the tool’s power and abilities, but what I saw wasn’t nearly as impressive as it was apparently supposed to be.
Drawing on the display surface? AutoCAD and a light pen. Been around for years. If someone resurrected it for the tablet generation, well, great…but I’m missing the giant revolutionary point.
And Neil Young is nauseating.
Well I thought it was impressive. Perhaps I’m just easily pleased.
I don’t hold a brief for Neil Young but I am slightly surprised by the level of hostility shown towards him here! But anyway, thanks David for suggesting “Wochenend und Sonnenschein” which was beguiling and made a far more suitable soundtrack.
It isn’t clear from the demo how (or if) the software renders solid volumes. There’s a sketching programme called “Teddy” that’s been around for a few years and “intuits” simple solid volumes. I’m not sure what became of it.

I kinda like that Teddy demo. Not sure why I find that compelling when the OP is sorta…meh.
David:
This is why I keep coming back here, if too busy these days for full engagement.
PS: Your “edgy” accompaniment is mindblowing as well. Where do you find these things? Who has the time?
Dr Dawg,
I’m glad you do; you’re always welcome. The Thin Man unearthed the Comedian Harmonists. “Wochenend und Sonnenschein” is one of their… jauntier numbers.

Jeez, can’t believe how many people don’t like Neil Young, absolutely one of the most prolific and best singer-songwriters ever. And still kicking it at 63 years old!
