Jam At The Intersection
At the switched-on woke paradise of Ontario’s Western University:
Western initially stood firm in keeping the picture up, noting it “understood ‘how complex and intersectional this topic is’ and that the ‘imagery may be upsetting to some Muslims.’” However, Associate Vice President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Opiyo Oloya, announced on Wednesday the picture had been removed.
The pecking order of victimhood is still, it seems, under construction.
Update, two more via the comments:
It’s perfectly straightforward and nothing could ever go wrong.
Setting aside the practical, structural shortcomings of polyamorous entanglements, and the likelihood of insecurity and resentment, there’s also the fact that such arrangements tend to attract a very high concentration of, shall we say, psychologically marginal people. By which I mean, the kinds of people one wouldn’t generally wish to be in an intimate relationship with. Say, the kinds of people who need you to know just how fascinating and complicated their sexual arrangements are, and by extension how fascinating and complicated they themselves must be.
Hey, kids! Come to the library for Pokémon, Lego… and drag queens.
I’m still not sure why proximity to drag queens – i.e., men performing grotesque parodies of women – is supposed to be both imperative and affirming for toddlers. But apparently these things are somehow aspirational and representative, a role model for later adulthood. As if cartoonish transvestism were an unassailable, not-at-all-insulting shorthand for being gay. As if “story time drag queens,” a remarkable number of whom turn out to be registered sex offenders – three in Texas alone – were natural objects of kinship. As if being lurid and grotesque, or mentally ill, would be an obvious ambition. A way to feel good about oneself.
Also, open thread.

From the “It’s perfectly straightforward…” link above:
Okay, so in the centre of it all is obviously me.
How very revealing. If… unintentionally so.
How very revealing.

Surely there must be such a thing as Islamo-homo-phobia. They just haven’t got there team together yet.

Shouldn’t Muslim lesbians be outraged by this? They’re being erased at the behest of the patriarchy!
“The pecking order of victimhood is still, it seems, under construction”.
That.
While Ms. Polyamory tells us how fascinating and complicated her life is, 9 of 10 men are watching and thinking, “Hmm. Nice boobs.” And with that, somehow, the great balance is maintained.
I think she means she’s a slag.
I think the current term is “Superspreader”.
It’s perfectly straightforward and nothing could ever go wrong.
I’ve had pseudo-smart people “explain” to me what polyamory is and why it’s great–in the most condescending way possible. Shit doesn’t smell any better when delivered by people with IQ’s above 100.
“Hmm. Nice boobs.”
No boobs could be nice enough to prevent me from shunning such a…person.
*buys shares in doxycycline*
“Doxy” is slang for “prostitute”.
‘imagery may be upsetting to some Muslims.’
The university knows that Christians will merely complain politely, while Muslims may kill those they dislike.
No boobs could be nice enough to prevent me from shunning such a…person.
I still say Perpetual Male Adolescence™ serves as a much-needed antidote for this level of unbridled self-absorption.
That’s my theory and I’m sticking to it!

…and on that note…
“professionals”

They do seem to be making a profession of their perversion.
It’s perfectly straightforward and nothing could go ever wrong.
All that screwing around might be OK for now, but what’s she going to do when she loses her looks?
Seriously, with that noticeable exophthalmia, it wouldn’t surprise me to find out she has some thyroid problems.
Which would explain a lot.
“professionals”
What’s odd – aside from the whole wearing-women’s-panties-to-work thing, I mean – is the need of these creatures to involve other people’s children in their personal psychodrama. That’s what chafes the ass. That’s what sets off the alarm.
“professionals”
We’ve now seen dozens of examples, all displaying a need, an unhappy craving, to involve other people’s children as some kind of applause machine. As if other people’s children were basically props in some ongoing mental drama, there to validate the supposed adult in the room. The disregard for normal boundaries regarding adult-child interaction, and educator-pupil interaction in particular, is practically a signature. Hence the flashing red light.
If someone has a fetish for wearing satin knickers underneath their crummy, ill-fitting suit, or opts for full-on transvestism, like this chap here, I’d be tempted to say that’s their business. But once they start involving others in their narcissistic mental theatre, against the wishes of those other parties, and specifically targeting children – from whom they almost invariably expect, or coerce, affirmation – then responses may justifiably include more than mere complaints.
All that screwing around might be OK for now, but what’s she going to do when she loses her looks?
She’ll find that the best men are nearly all married, and her past makes her less attractive. Also, she will have well established and hard-to-change habits of thought and behavior.
Miss polyamory: my wife and I are still providing advice and help to our grown children and enjoying the grand-children. This has always been the foundation of and reason for marriage. I can’t even imagine how disorienting it would be for a child to be raised in a polyamorous setting. Women like this imagine themselves to be always young and always independent, but when a woman is pregnant the need for support, including the ability to stay home, becomes very very important. Pregnancy can be hard and even require the woman to stay in bed to prevent disaster. Will your polyamores do that for you? And if the members of your sex network come and go, don’t count on the father (if you even know who he is) to stick around.
The premise of putting moslems at the top of the pecking order is that they are oppressed brown people. Many moslems are not “brown” (e.g., in Chechnya) and few of them consider themselves brown or oppressed. My friends from Iran have totally blended in (in US) and don’t look like a minority at all. Oddly, there is no similar concern for Hindus.
“Doxy” is slang for “prostitute”.
I’d forgotten that. Time to dig out the Nero Wolfe novels again.
“Comfort elf” was a new one, though.
Indeed. And it goes both ways. Women in hijabs have recently been added to the checklist of what you need in, say, an IBM billboard. Noticing it makes you a bad person: “I don’t see black women or Muslims, I just finally see a representation of the full range of folks who are excited about how many megaflobbles there are in the latest IBM machinery”. But the Muslim activists correctly identify hijab-wearing as religious territory marking that habituates the general population to the Islamization of their spaces, to small daily acts of deference or walking on eggshells around Muslim sensitivities.
A lesbian OR a Muslim on a billboard is on-message as a provocation against conservative Christians. But lesbian Muslims on a billboard is a provocation against conservative Muslims, and its mixed messages lessen its effectiveness as a provocation against Christians. Keep the coalition focused on the goal: stay in your lanes, don’t do anything to provoke sensitivities (ie don’t insult Islam), don’t give material to hate groups by your frank observations about complexities or contradictions, and when the contradictions inevitably show themselves, that’s the very time to double down on the commitment to the coalition against the hated majority.
It’s perfectly straightforward and nothing could ever go wrong.
I sense monkeypox in her future. The good news is a polycule is also a great source for tracking STDs. So there’s that.
9 of 10 men are watching and thinking, “Hmm. Nice boobs.”
Oh lord I must be number 10. I never even noticed her boobs, I was transfixed by those scary eyes.
9 of 10 men are watching and thinking, “Hmm. Nice boobs.”

It can’t be you. For me, as something of a cleavage connoisseur, they barely even register as a disappointment.
I was transfixed by those scary eyes
It is odd how many of those videos show “crazy eyes”. Is it just a camera angle ? Some type of anime filter ? The Marty Feldman look ? It seems to be some kind of symptom together with odd head angles, head bobbing and finger waving. Very unsettling.
If you need a diagram to explain your sex life, you don’t have relationships, you just have hookups. That is fine, I guess, but don’t brag about how brave you are. Speaking of which, if the current thing is to identify in public based on your sex life, how does that work for heterosexuals? Is it brave and interesting if you go to nude beaches? Are sexually attracted to sports cars? Fuck like rabbits? Do we need pronouns for this on our email headers?
The pecking order of victimhood is still, it seems, under construction.
No, Muslims have always been at the top despite being the real-world, literal Handmaid’s Tale society. And for the obvious reason: lesbians and women in general don’t murder people who offend their sensitivities.
I’ve had pseudo-smart people “explain” to me what polyamory is and why it’s great
Ayn Rand tried to pull that crap, too.
All of these people claim to “just […] love science”. Just not the science about oxytocin’s role in pair-bonding and the empirical evidence on life outcomes of children raised outside of both-biological-parent homes until adulthood.
the need of these creatures to involve other people’s children in their personal psychodrama
It was explained to me by a psychiatrist that people with BPD/CPTSD tend to go into professions involving children and the elderly because the inherent power imbalance allows them to maintain a sense of security and emotional safety via the position’s authority. Which would be bad enough for a teacher, but when you throw the self-destructive sexual dysfunction in there…
[…]from whom they almost invariably expect, or coerce, affirmation
Which is the point. Adults might tell the circus freak to sod off and stop being a circus freak, which destroys the carefully constructed fantasy they’re using to stave off the suicidal impulses and sneds them into a spiral of self-destructive behaviour. Children have to affirm their toxic coping mechanisms because they’re in a position of authority. It’s why they became teachers in the first place.
She’ll find that the best men are nearly all married, and her past makes her less attractive. Also, she will have well established and hard-to-change habits of thought and behavior.
The Wall is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop coming, ever.
Children have to affirm their toxic coping mechanisms because they’re in a position of authority. It’s why they became teachers in the first place.
Attempts by trans activists and leftist enablers to blur customary boundaries between childhood and the adult world – as seen, for instance, here – are concerning for obvious reasons, albeit reasons that we’re no longer supposed to mention. As noted before, regarding news items of this kind, transgender people report severe childhood abuse, often childhood sexual abuse, at rates far higher than is found in the wider population. Adults who have been violated as children are in turn much more likely to have, shall we say, issues regarding normal boundaries and to behave inappropriately with minors.
In light of which, the oversharing of so many dysmorphic and “non-binary” educators – and other, more concerning behaviour – is not entirely surprising. What is surprising is that it seems we aren’t supposed to acknowledge such concerns. Instead, we’re expected to affirm the unfolding clown show.
The pecking order of victimhood is still, it seems, under construction.
It will presumably always remain “under construction”, if for no other reason than to keep everyone guessing and insecure and vulnerable.
The Other Half is currently amusing himself by watching YouTube debates with flat-earthers.

I’ll look at it lately.
But this reminds me: Back when I was working on my degree, I noticed that one of my physics professors had a pamphlet on his desk arguing for Tycho Brahe’s geocentric model of the universe. He told me that a very large fraction of the subscribers to this and the flat earth organizations were in fact physicists who found them very entertaining. That led me to wonder how many of the people writing this stuff were sincere crackpots and how many were pranksters who enjoyed perpetuating the silliness.
One could also replace “chemtrails” with “COVID-19”:
Is this real?
They can’t be serious, surely?
“It should also be made clear that if you are not Muslim, you have no right to tell us what we can and cannot find offensive.”
Fair enough. Not gonna argue. But you have no right to prevent anyone from offending you.
The FE community is mainly made up of narcissists who use the opportunity to gain a following. It’s a cult ethos – with newbies sucked into the usual bullying/compliance/party line control with ritual humiliation and expulsion for those who stray from the path.
There are then equal numbers of outright scammers who see an opportunity to make a little coin and grade A asshole arguers, with sophisticated verbal reasoning skills – who get off on dominating people who have expertise in some connected field, such as surveying, but don’t stand up to determinedly pugilistic cross examination.
I have myself enjoyed the notion of “everything being wrong” – that there still could be great, shocking overturnings of conventional wisdom.
But the characters referenced above are not doing this for a chuckle, they have much less savoury motives – “We should target kids on TIK TOK. The Globetards don’t even know about it” for example.
Hollow Earth would also be fun […] And if we can work in Barsoom

As if these things were somehow aspirational, a role model for later adulthood. As if cartoonish transvestism were an unassailable, not-at-all-insulting shorthand for being gay. Rather like how so many woke, cross-dressing educators insist that any gay adolescents in their classes will naturally feel some kind of affinity with woke, cross-dressing educators. Because every gay adolescent can’t wait to prance about in slap and tart shoes.
As if “story time drag queens,” a remarkable number of whom turn out to be registered sex offenders – three in Texas alone – were natural objects of kinship. As if being lurid and grotesque, or mentally ill, would be an obvious aspiration. A way to feel good about oneself.

That.
Polyamory is wrong.
That.
As noted following this, it’s bizarre that one should even have to explain that the endless parade of bedlamites, narcissists, and howling Nancies with Pride flags does not in fact leave one feeling represented or affirmed. Just vaguely insulted.
For an earlier generation, homosexuality often conjured images of, say, John Inman, Larry Grayson, and Dick Emery – farcical, effeminate creatures who were there to be laughed at. The modern spectacle of cross-dressing teachers and fat, grotesque drag queens reading to children, in between fits of twerking, doesn’t exactly strike me as a massive improvement.
The conceit that all “queer” people should identify with, and feel validated by, such sad, fatuous creatures might be offensive if it weren’t so ludicrous. It’s like The Black & White Minstrel Show, but for gay kids.
Polyamory is wrong
Mixing Greek and Latin roots is wrong

It’s like The Black & White Minstrel Show, but for gay kids.
That really hits the nail on the head, doesn’t it?
The first time I encountered this kind of thing was more than 15 years ago at an international arts festival in Singapore.
Artists of all kinds had been invited from across the globe to perform and some of them were even talented.
From Lithuania came a theatre group that put one of the most imaginative and compelling performances of Othello I’ve ever seen – the fact that it was performed in Lithuanian probably enhanced the effect.
From Hong Kong came a Cantonese Opera, the first time I’d seen a show of that kind.
Then there was the UK’s entry.
Let’s just say that to this very day I’m still half convinced that the Singaporean organisers knew absolutely what they were doing when they chose this particular act to represent their former colonial power.
It was a drag queen version of a Punch and Judy show except instead of Punch and Judy there were Barbie and Ken like dolls of glamorous female flight attendants cooing over a pilot.
Despite being performed to a small group of primary school age children (and their bemused parents) from what I could gather the show was full of absolutely filthy innuendo so it was really just as well they (apparently) didn’t get what the show was actually about.
Needless to say, it left me in a less than patriotic mood.
Vietnamese and Singaporeans teach Australians the true meaning of democracy
Democracy is non-whites heroically pushing back against having “outsiders with absolutely no connection to the local community” imposed on them by the elite. “A seat’s diversity being represented” means non-whites voting for people who look like themselves, or if that’s not possible, at least voting for anyone but the white candidate.
It’s like The Black & White Minstrel Show, but for gay kids.
That.
latin and greek: in the days when dictionaries were first being written in English, those in charge often wanted to show off their erudition by adding greek and latin into English, even if not coherently.
Re: pride–gay pride parades at some point started featuring nudity and extreme drag, to force the public to notice that gay people like sex or something. My wife and daughter (a teen at the time) stumbled on to one of these and pretty well freaked out. It did NOT make them more gay friendly. If you want to insist on confronting society with your specialness and society sort of gets used to you, then you must go to more and more extremes. Fun times.
It also seems to me that insisting that anyone gay or female or black must have identical politics to the left is demanding a lot. Do women really agree with trans in their bathrooms? Do blacks really agree with defund police? Is your opinion on inflation actually related to skin color? It of course is simply based on a false narrative of oppression.
That really hits the nail on the head, doesn’t it?
I find it difficult not to notice how odd the assumptions are. I mean, I have seen a few drag shows over the years and even found a couple of them quite funny, in an immensely crude, high-as-a-kite kind of way; but the whole point of such shows is to be perverse and grotesque. They’re not role models. They’re twisted cartoons. Why anyone would imagine that these caricatures would be representative or affirming, an empowering shorthand, as is often claimed, is not entirely obvious.
Re: pride–gay pride parades at some point started featuring nudity and extreme drag
And lots of S&M fetish wear, not to mention gay men in dog costumes, and even a few pantomimed sex acts, if I recall correctly. (I wonder if Zombie has posted anything recently.) It’s not so much that these people are gay so much as that they are extremely depraved.

Polyamory is wrong.
To quote the great H. Beam Piper,
And you know what English is? The result of the efforts of Norman men-at-arms to make dates with Saxon barmaids in the [Eleventh Century], and no more legitimate than any of the other results. If a little Greek suffix gets into a mess like that, it’s have to take care of itself the best way it can.
Or, in this case, a little Greek prefix.
“Transphobia” as explaained by, I guess, a circus clown.

I mean.. isn’t that the whole point?

That’s not really what it was about. Kristina Keneally is an appalling person, and her defeat was a sliver lining in the election result.
