Friday Ephemera
Somewhat surreal. // Doomed sci-fi pilots. (h/t, MeFi) // Let’s play dress-up. // Tron meets Playboy, if you like that kind of thing. // Prosthetic tentacle. // The tailoring of Bond. // How to wrap a cat. // Dancing with cats. // Deluxe cigar cutter. // A Christmas tale. (h/t, TDK) // An illustrated face. // Waffle irons of note. // Inside the Kowloon Walled City, 1989. // Crystalline architecture. // The Antikythera Mechanism, remade with Lego. (h/t, James Buster) // Truck bling, Gundam-style. // Taxi fares from around the world. // Images of cells. // The sounds of making shoes. // Voyager, 33 years on. “We come in peace. And are inedible.”
“We come in peace. And are inedible.”

That overhead shot of the Kowloon Walled City looks like something from ‘Lord of the Rings’…
“Somewhat surreal”
The words ‘Vatican’ and ‘topless’ don’t usually go together. And what’s with the music?
Alligator versus electric eel.

Somehow I overlooked this little nugget.

Heat Vision and Jack could have been awesome, but would almost inevitably been risibly awful in its execution. I mean, you are walking a very thin tightrope between high-concept re-imagination of the super-hero/sidekick mythos and Knight Rider except KITT is a freakin’ motorcycle. Which side would the producers have landed? I think we all know, in our hearts, where.
Ooh, did I mention that this continues to be one of the most edifying blogs in existence? Much, much kudos, Mr. Thompson. The Friday Ephemera alone are worth the price of admission.
