Friday Ephemera
Iron Man 3. // Filming in infra-red. // Tulip fields, from above. // Abusing Sellotape. // Volkswagen van of note. // Vintage one-wheeled motorcycle. // “Designed to drop from the sky and land prepared for action, the Paratrooper folding bike can tackle any terrain.” // Jeremy Clarkson drives a very small car. // Does your mobile Antarctic research station look like this? // Twelve peculiar cameras. // “Dad, can we have some bat pups?” // Pure White Paper. // Cardboard creations. // How to tie your shoelaces. Because it seems you’re doing it all wrong. // Facebook pranking. // And via MeFi… Things fitting perfectly into other things.
I thought you’d forgotten to do one this week…
Very nearly did.
Pure White Paper.
That’s actually really clever. How did he make them?
How did he make them?
I haven’t been able to find specifics, but I think it involves using electric saws to carve blocks of tens of thousands of interconnected sheets of paper.

Hey, I want to see Jeremy Clarkson drive the mobile Antarctic research station…
There are actually several ways to tie shoes. Poor Terry Moore simply seems to have learned the worst method in his youth. He shows how to move from the looped granny knot to a looped square knot, which is a vast improvement. Next, one could make two twist knots in the first step and make it a bowed surgeon’s knot–even better. Finally, one can make a twist knot of the bows themselves, which parents of toddlers have been using for a long time. There are other variations in Asia that are also quite effective.
Bach in the forest
Quite good.
