Rashly, He Left Them Unsupervised
As Typepad is only intermittently functional at the moment, and with some “additional maintenance” occurring this weekend, and with attempts to get anything done during that process a recipe for meltdowns and mood stabilisers, I’ll be taking a few days off. By Monday, the worst of it should be over and normal service will resume.
Until then, play nicely. Use coasters.
Oh, and remember, sometimes one person can make a difference.

Behind the scenes at Typepad? 🙂

Maybe the photograph accompanying this article could be sub-titled?
My suggestion would be “a confederacy of dunces”.

[ Awakens from alcoholic haze. ]
As long as they use coasters, right?
Does “bleeding bodies” include people shot and stabbed? I mean if so, the pads and tampons might help, not sure about the chocolate.

Pst314, better cork the cognac. Looks like you’re seeing double again.
Or maybe it’s Typepad that’s seeing double.
The reactions to Musk on Twitter are hilarious. Like the reactions to Libs of Tiktok. These roaches cannot stand the light. They also can’t seem to stand any humor at all. Musk walking in to Twitter HQ carrying a sink…”let that sink in” ahahahaha
But I guess this is the end of the world so we should all head for the hills.
Oh Typepad, don’t ever change, now with Clodfare, so it doesn’t work with common VPNs…
Colour me a bit skeptical about the Musk acquisition. His current plans are to take the company private, open source the codebase, and create an open protocol so anyone can run their own Twitter and seamlessly move from one Twitter service to another.
Sooooo….he spent $44 billion to recreate Mastodon?[1]
My prediction is that Musk will discover in short order that without black government funding it’s not actually possible to operate Twitter. A year from now it’ll look a lot like Facebook does now – only used by a small core of people and riddled with ads.
[1] Admittedly Mastodon is written in Ruby on Rails, which makes it useless as anything but a toy
I think a good model for twitter would be reddit which has ads interspersed in the feed. Not too intrusive and not stealth. You should not have to sign up to read tweets.

That’s con-yack not cognac. Privately sourced from HMP Belmarsh.

So you didn’t notice the secret compartment behind the front shelf of bottles?
David’s been holding out on us. Remind me, though, to refill this bottle with that Belmarsh stuff before David returns.

TRAs??? I can’t keep up.
According to my kid, “let that sink in” meme has been floating around for a couple of years.
This was news to me, of course, since I spend all me spare time (i.e. when not commenting elsewhere) here, trying sequential combinations on the under-bar safe, carefully hidden under a crate of Wadworth 6X empties, the one labeled “Five Eyes”.
ALTERNATE THE PRONOUNS
My reply there: “Tshheey”?

Is it me or does anyone else think someone with Pelosi’s money would have really, really, really good home security?
Rock, paper scissors: K-9 bites cow, deputy tases K-9, cow kicks deputy.
Is it me or does anyone else think someone with Pelosi’s money would have really, really, really good home security?
As far as cameras and other technology go, yes. But PP being home alone without any other immediate physical presence doesn’t surprise me. People who have that sort of security forced on them don’t like it and it is generally not cost effective.
@Stephanie Richer: interesting that the drone photo of the house shows glass on the outside of the patio doors. Less of a break in and more of an attempt to break out?

Irish regulatory apparat recognizes alcoholics as a protected minority.
“Discrimination on the grounds of disability” – after several incidents where a supermarket manager gets so drunk on the job that the other employees have to take him home for his safety, the store eventually fires him.
“Failure to provide reasonable accommodation” the store failed to turn itself into an occupational therapy facility, where the former manager would be set to stacking shelves, with a new manager supervising his shelf-stacking, and an addiction counselor supervising his sobriety.

There’s a lot that is weird about this story. Reports I’ve read say Pelosi called the intruder a friend while talking to the police on the phone and the assault didn’t occur until after the police had arrived.
@PiperPaul: I’m now getting a message that typepad is checking the security of my connection before connecting to this site. It flashed on the screen for about 3 seconds and then David’s site comes up.
disability: before the ADA (Amer with Disabilities Act) there were more disabled employed than after. Why? Before, you could try to employ a disabled person and see how they did. Now, you can’t fire them so better not to hire them. As more and more things qualify as “disability”–such as obesity–I feel for employers. Add in the snowflakes and wokies and we are pretty much doomed.

Yeah. At first I thought it was just my side having security concerns about wtf typepad was up to but now it stays on screen long enough to actually read it.

With breaking stories like these I generally check with Wikipedia. For all their (known) faults, the objective information there seems to be fairly trustworthy and as current as one can expect. If information changes, it tends to be more immediately presented there and the sources are multiple. When I checked this morning, the story seemed to be that PP told the intruder that he needed to use the bathroom. PP then dialed 911 but didn’t say anything, presumably out of fear the attacker would hear him. He then left the phone line open and the 911 dispatcher sent police on a wellness check just to be safe, as I presume any audio would have been garbled. In that context some of the “coincidences” seem to make sense.

Shouldn’t that be majority? I’ll let myself out now.

Me too.
Does everyone feel secure? That is, after all, a recurring topic of conversation here.
Another great new typepad feature is that when you refresh the page to see new items, you go back to the top of the post and have to scroll down again. urgh

Yes, it is that Clodfare™ mess, and if you are using a VPN, one frequently must sift through different connections to get connected without a do-loop of it checking itself.
Another great new typepad feature is…
Rashly, someone left the Typepad engineers unsupervised.
