It has been noted before the similarities between the current SJW project and religious orthodoxy. It seems for Ms. Byerley, only Caucasians suffer from “total depravity” in the form of melanin deficiency. It is for her (and others like her) the Original Sin. Query, does she believe her “salvation” is a result of the “irresistible grace” afforded the “elect” like her, or is such grace “prevenient” and available to all of us if we can just see the light? When, then, is the altar call?

It’s all getting rather surreal. (“That goat is stylish, is it yours?”) But it does add to the mountain of evidence that when people ostentatiously signal their wokeness, credulity and obliviousness are likely to follow. And the obliviousness isn’t some random aberration; it’s oddly uniform. And it’s uniform because it’s been taught, either formally or in terms of peer-group cues.

But are you woke enough to recognize that the ‘homonormative whiteness’ of LGBTQ Centers? I guess the LGBTQ centers are too gay. (And too white, of course, but that sort of goes without saying.)

‘homonormative whiteness’ of LGBTQ Centers
I fear we are approaching critical mass of absurdity. Yet again, we find that the victim group du jour’s distress is not predicated on any overt act of exclusion or discrimination, but upon the group’s own internal emotional hang-ups. Thus a gymnasium open to all becomes a problem because it supports fitness thereby marginalizing the less-fit. Where they get the idea that the universe owes them a reality which caters to their emotional well-being at all times is not clear to me.
Yet again, we find that the victim group du jour’s distress is not predicated on any overt act of exclusion or discrimination, but upon the group’s own internal emotional hang-ups.
And is therefore insatiable. There’s no way to please the compulsively, competitively, neurotically indignant, and any effort to appease such creatures is likely to encourage further scolding and demands. As illustrated, for instance, here and here.

Thus a gymnasium open to all becomes a problem because it supports fitness thereby marginalizing the less-fit.
Regarding the gym,
The school gym can also marginalize LGBTQ students, Pryor discovered, saying that although the school gym is open to all students, it is not “not particularly accessible” for gay students because of the “pressure to be fit” and the “expectations of manliness.”
Let us pass over for a moment the fundamental absurdity of someone crying and blowing snot because he is troubled by the fact that a gym is a place to get fit, this guy seems to be pushing the stereotype that all gays should be delicate and effeminate, which, we discovered lately, is not an ideal.
This, however, raises idiocy to an art form.
After interviewing eight LGBTQ students, Pryor learned that Greek Life was a source of particular consternation, noting that the presence of Greek Life flags in the student center and the proximity of Greek houses to campus made some students especially uncomfortable.
One student, Jackson—identified as a queer, black, trans man—pointed out to Pryor the strong presence of Greek Life flags hung in the school’s student center.
“By featuring these organizations in such a visible way, the campus is communicating the importance of fraternity and sorority membership,” Pryor lamented. “What would it mean for the campus to hang all the LGBTQ pride flags in that space? Questions likely not considered in such a heterogendered environment.”
According to the UMKC website, only 6% of their students live in frats or sororities, so Jackson is FOS (to no one’s surprise) if he is taking the vapors because campus organizations hang their banners in the student center, and personally I am shocked that a frat or soroity would dare locate close to campus, that is unheard of. If they had any decency they’d be in Raytown.
Wait till Jackson finds out there is ROTC on campus.
Oh well, it is UMKC, after all.

Abbreviating “mathematics” and/or “mathematical study” as “math” I’d call mere recognition that nobody in their right mind would ever say “a mathematic”, a simpler reason for never recognizing the plural. It’s a plural noun behaving much as a singular collective noun, and deserves to be treated as such.

The Tapestry explicitly identifies them as FRANCI.
I’ve read an interesting article which argues that King Harold is actually two men over to the right, and that the one who appears to be struck with an arrow in the eye is actually holding a spear. The text is emended to “IN TERRA IACTUS EST” instead of “INTERFECTUS EST”.
18th century engravings of the tapestry show that this section has undergone considerable reconstruction. The arrow in the eye may be one such, matching an account in Malmesbury, iirc.

Damnit, why hadn’t they thought of that 40 or so years earlier ?
David, what a coincidence! Just last week I was going to suggest “zookeepers” as a fitting term for the hierarchs of the egalitarian pecking-order establishment. Ungood minds think alike, as they say.
Brown University is implementing a change to its graduate school application that will allow applicants to “self-identify” as persons of color.

There is a strain of leftism, a broad one with a long history, that seems to regard the rest of us as something close to livestock.
See also this.
And people thought Bosom Buddies was a comedy.
Darleen,
I moved your reply to the Ephemera thread after spotting that I’d posted my own comment in the wrong thread.
‘because we whites ruin things’
Yes, like inventing Twitter.
Yes, like inventing Twitter.
To be fair, I am not sure that is one you want to put in the win column.

California being California, it is not much of a surprise that a lot of commenters are excusing this as I guess there are no gas stations, stop-n-robs, fast food joints, or other places with restrooms anyone can use.

The Twitter thread is hilarious.
If only she could reach out and touch their hair.
…credulity and obliviousness are likely to follow…
You left out condescension as thick as Mississippi delta mud.
One day we can only hope to be half as Woke™ as she is, and she is truly a saint for deigning even to try to spread her Wokeness™ to we trogloditian mortals.
Meanwhile, back at our favorite Canadian university, the WLU Rainbow Center makes demands. Among them are:
Whole list here. [Link goes to Facespace for those who prefer to avoid Zukerberg’s soul destroying mess]
I am a bit surprised for number three they didn’t want full body armor and an MRAP to get to classes, seeing as how WLU is literally Mogadishu for the “trans, non-binary, and gender diverse” students
the WLU Rainbow Center makes demands.
I’m still processing the idea that someone sufficiently hysterical and dishonest to meet the expected standards of wokeness would be in a position to dish out “mental health supports.”

Speaking of dishonesty, or at least self-delusion, I don’t think there are enough genuine “trans” people in Canada to fill all the billets for which they demand a “trans” person.
Regarding the gym,
Let us pass over for a moment the fundamental absurdity of someone crying and blowing snot because he is troubled by the fact that a gym is a place to get fit, this guy seems to be pushing the stereotype that all gays should be delicate and effeminate, which, we discovered lately, is not an ideal.
This, however, raises idiocy to an art form.
“If only she could reach out and touch their hair.”
[Whispering] “They’re absolutely fascinating in their natural environment. Shhhh! Careful, don’t let them notice us or they might scatter and ruin this anthropological expedition.”
I’m still processing the idea that someone sufficiently hysterical and dishonest to meet the expected standards of wokeness would be in a position to dish out “mental health supports.”
‘Hey now, show us on the doll where the white patriarchy touched you.’
The school gym can also marginalize LGBTQ students, Pryor discovered, saying that although the school gym is open to all students, it is not “not particularly accessible” for gay students
He ought to try the CMG gym in Paris I go to. Sometimes I think I’m the only straight man in there.
@Tim N – I used to be a member of the YMCA gym in London. Same story.
Didn’t notice any of the gays having a problem with ‘manliness’ either. Many of the lads there, if they were any more masculine they’d have to go and live up a tree.
Why in all the hells is ‘support’ pluralized? Is it some Brit/Canadian thing like ‘maths’ or yet another sample of the socjus fetish for loading down perfectly viable words with superfluous letters?
Just last week I was going to suggest “zookeepers” as a fitting term for the hierarchs of the egalitarian pecking-order establishment.
Hate to say this but Charles Murray has you beat by about 25 years. See the last chapter of The Bell Curve.
The spam filter’s being moody and quarrelsome again. If anyone has trouble with comments not appearing, email me and I’ll liberate them.
If only she could reach out and touch their hair.
In the rubric, this is where she would traditionally mention what good singers and dancers they are.
I spent some time in gyms while losing the 60 lbs. Everybody I had occasion to talk to was friendly. Some exercises require concentration or you’ll hurt yourself. Maybe the complainant du jour mistook concentration for unfriendliness?
He could also try the martial arts. Martial artists and target shooters are the two friendliest groups on the planet, although the shooters like to talk about technical gun stuff, foot-pounds and trajectories and whatnot.

Surely another Godfrey Elfwick production?
Probably not, and I don’t think this is, either (but should be):

So… an evil version of Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy?
“May I pet your puppy?”
“Is it some Brit/Canadian thing like ‘maths’ ”
It’s not actually _our_ fault your education system is so defective that none of you appear to realise that as “mathematics” is plural, the shortening should be too.
As in arithmetic and algebra and calculus and graph theory and transifinite number theory and … Plural.
Fart proudly!
Surrep, I prefer to think of it as we Americans choosing to abbreviate exactly what and as much as we like without irrational constraint. Abbreviating “mathematics” and/or “mathematical study” as “math” I’d call mere recognition that nobody in their right mind would ever say “a mathematic”, a simpler reason for never recognizing the plural. It’s a plural noun behaving much as a singular collective noun, and deserves to be treated as such.
testing…
Economics ≠Econs
Economics ≠Econs
Indeed, and physics sure isn’t is not the plural of physic…

At moments like this, before things get too heated and we go all color/colour center/centre and shit, I like to remind everyone that we all still hate the French, right?

Why DO we hate the cheese-eating surrender monkeys? Is that just something all right-thinking folk do, regardless of race, creed, or color?
Well, they did give us Voltaire, Bastiat, and Maurice Chevalier, but beyond that…
Why DO we hate the cheese-eating surrender monkeys?
Because they’re insufferable snobs.
I don’t think this is, either
Good Lord, I work there.
I could really do with my little corner of one of Britain’s forgotten colonies being a little less internationally f*cking famous for being batsh*t insane.
At moments like this, before things get too heated and we go all color/colour center/centre and shit, I like to remind everyone that we all still hate the French, right?
I’ll just leave this here and then walk away, quite briskly.
6. Hire a trans person of colour as a full-time counsellor within the Diversity & Equity Office to provide mental health supports to individuals who are being impacted by our campus climate
=====
Trans person of colour???
What about the lefthanded Laotian lesbians huh? What about them you exclusionary b*stards?
It’s interesting that in all lists of demands you will find things that boil down to ‘give us money and ‘jobs’.
Also (pet peeve alert) it’s ‘affected’. ‘Impacted’ as a verb is reserved for meteorites and artillery strikes, although in this case……
Why DO we hate the cheese-eating surrender monkeys?
Never forget.
‘Impacted’ as a verb is reserved for meteorites and artillery strikes, although in this case……
You left out one for which one would need a physic, though not physics, if it got that bad one would really be in the deep…kimchi.

You forgot impacted molars.
And bowels.
Never forget.
Not sure the Normans were
a) French
b) much into surrendering.
I assume they ate cheese.
