So You’ll Be Wanting a Large, Madam?
Meanwhile, on feminist Tumblr…
Someone wants to buy a shirt that bears the immensely radical slogan “you cannot weigh beauty” and is promptly horrified to discover that said shirt is available in different sizes.
Apparently, sizing clothes is triggering and oppressive.
How *dare* they sell clothes that fit!!!!!
No, you mustn’t laugh. All slim people should wear enormously baggy, ill-fitting clothes in solidarity with her cause.

Ah, but to size clothing is to size people. To size people is to create categories of people. To create categories is automatically discriminatory as different categories are inherently unequal. This does not, of course, apply to increasingly fine distinctions in the LGBTQQIA… community, as those labels are created to foster inclusion, whereas a x-small size is exclusive.
To foster inclusion, we must all wear xxx-large or larger!
All slim people should wear enormously baggy, ill-fitting clothes in solidarity with her cause.
That would be racist. Over-sized clothing that displays the entirety of one’s underwear is a *black* fashion, and whites who dress like that are appropriating black culture!
Why stop with size? Isn’t it generally acknowledged, by people of proper outlook, that height is a social construct?
In other feminist news… She – sorry, they – is called ‘star. With an apostrophe.
They is redefining realness, okay?
To foster inclusion, we must all wear xxx-large or larger!
To be fair, the typical Tumblr feminist needs an extra roomy collar for that enlarged vocal sack.

So, we’ve taken care of forced marriages, female genital mutilation and sex trafficking then? Clothing sizes are the last thing standing between us and total Social “Justice” victory?
‘Star is a bit of a ‘silly ‘sausage, methinks.
Dammit, Anna. Now my monitor is covered in martini spew.
You’re drinking Martinis at 3:30 in the afternoon? I’m guessing you live abroad, and on a yacht.
>> facepalm << This is why the nose-pickers at 4Chan troll Tumblr, en masse.
Woman seeks lifetime supply of Kit Kats after buying wafer-less pack and other related headlines . . .
Surely the ‘one size fits all’ range of clothing that is beyond questioning is the burka.
Don’t you understand? You’re supposed to just GET IT.
It’s not her job to educate you about what size she wears. You should know.
“I AM ‘star
Cantankerous, warrior…”
Warrior my arse. She poses, preens and postures under the protection of real warriors, usually but not always men, who carry guns.
She is utterly decadent. She reeks of decay.
You’re drinking Martinis at 3:30 in the afternoon? I’m guessing you live abroad, and on a yacht.
It’s always happy hour somewhere.
If “‘star” insists on calling “‘star” “they”, then shouldn’t “‘star”‘s photo be captioned, “We are ‘star”?
(Sorry, I’m having trouble keeping all those sneer quotes straight.)
“She is utterly decadent. She reeks of decay.”
Quite.
If you consider Düsseldorf abroad, and 4:30 a yacht, then sure.

Ah, the playboy lifestyle.
Triggered by everything, all the time.
“Redefining realness.” What an ego on this dipstick. “I am (list of words, but no correlated actions).” Well, I’m from Missouri, “‘star,” so you have to show me, not tell me, what a damn warrior you are.
Ah, the playboy lifestyle.
That’s why I have my manservant both compose and post comments here.
That sort of thing would never have done at Raffles.
All slim people should wear enormously baggy, ill-fitting clothes in solidarity with her cause.
I call unfair: all large people should wear tiny little clothes that burst open at the seams.
Also, if they’re selling a T-shirt with that slogan it should go up to size 6X.
Cripes, people are stupid.
Triggered by everything, all the time.
We don’t see what she says is the underlying trauma that’s being triggered.
For all we know, she’s (a) a parody (b) coping with years of sexual abuse that have made being aware of her own existence into pure agony.
Or she’s a Tumblrina. Who can tell anymore?
Why is it always Norfolk?:
DWILE FLONKING
This rather unique and deceptively complicated game was played in Norfolk in the 1960s and ’70s. According to Brooke-Hitching, a round of dwile flonking entailed “locals gather[ing] in a large group, danc[ing] to an accordion, and hit[ting] each other in the face with beer-soaked rags.”
One of these:

Reality is oppressive for these people, so to the best of their ability they deny it. Tragically, the capitalism that these activists so abhor provide them with the affluence to make this possible.
Kate’s right. We need a famine.
Reality is oppressive for these people.
Someone should arrange vacation trips to Venus for them.
Realness can’t be redefined. (unless they’re talking about the word. If it is a word).
Reality just is. And the only way anyone can ‘redefine’ it is to create some event but that would be in the future as NOW can’t be redefined only the future can be redefined (maybe).
Notice how we see all these warriors gonna change this and that and stand up to this and that and they’re all mostly overweight wimp females with a limited grasp on sanity and other issues?
The only reason you can do that sort of stuff honey is because of all the workers putting in a lot of time and effort to pay for your useless butt to sit around and whine and moan.
200 years ago you’d have to go to work doing something real that provided either yourself or someone else a benefit from your labor. Otherwise you’d be starving in the street.
Grow up, get straight (not necessarily THAT way) and try to grasp some sanity.
The universe is not a friendly place for the lazy or stupid.
I’ve always been surprised at the lengths women will go to to make themselves unattractive.
you cannot weigh beauty
No, but a gang of us might….
“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.” – P. K. Dick (1978)
Ah, the leftist education system that ‘star seems to be an end product of, where there no truth, no good and evil, no right or wrong: just differing narratives that all have equal validity. Where your evidence, logic and reason have no more value than a leftist’s ‘proof by assertion’, since both can be classified as narratives that are of equal worth. When ‘star is ‘redefining realness’, she is asserting that your reality is a creation of your narrative and she is choosing a different narrative that is redefining her reality, and this different reality narrative is just as good and just as valid as your reality narrative. This can allow her to reject any of your evidence that Western Civilisation is not a sexist, racist, white privileged, anti-gay environment full of false consciousness and micro and macro aggressions by categorising this evidence as just part of your narrative and thus of no more validity than her own narrative/reality.
One wonders what happens if her ‘reality’ rejects Newtons Laws of motion and then wanders down a Freeway confident that she will now be safe from the speeding traffic’s own ‘realness’. I think we would then apply Larry Niven’s quote, “Think of it as evolution in action.”
I think ‘star has a five o’clock shadow. Gender fluid…
‘star is a chap, correct?
A friend of mine told me about a time when she worked in a uniform shop. Variations of this occurred all the time…
A mother came in with her son who was in his early teens. He was not tall but quite stocky. Not really fat, but very wide and …solid? Anyhoo, the mother asked my friend for advice on a jacket size for her son. My friend suggested an ‘S’ to which the mother replied, ‘Oh, I don’t think he’d be a small, do you?’ My friend responded that the sizing system was a bit different to normal and the S didn’t stand for ‘small.’ With innocent perplexity, the mother ask what the S stood for. So my friend, reluctantly, had to tell her – ‘Stout.’
Also, if beauty can’t be weighed, then surely the message of the shirt is that size is irrelevant?
One day on Capitol Hill in Seattle, I went into a clothing store. Now this is a very hip, counterculture area. On great pillars reaching high up to the ceiling was the word “diversity” written in huge letters on all four sides. I began to notice that all the the clothing only came in very small sizes. I found this amusing and mentioned to the sales person I was talking to how funny this was as their sizing didn’t seem very diverse at all. So help me, she did not GET IT.
One suspects that the greatest – and indeed ironic, tragedy about ‘Star’ is that she ultimately is what she’s evidently trying so hard not to be:
Boring.
Those who determinably try to attain/proclaim uniqueness in such a crude, narcicisstic fashion are rarely anything else once the paper thin facade of “pan” this and “fluid” that is stripped away.
Another nobody trying desperately hard to be somebody.

“When ‘star is ‘redefining realness’, she is asserting that your reality is a creation of your narrative
This is incredibly appealing to those who have no marketable skills, talent or experience. And to those enablers who profit from creating and continuing the delusion.
Do I have to report to the penalty box now?
For all we know, she’s (a) a parody (b) coping with years of sexual abuse that have made being aware of her own existence into pure agony.
Or she’s a Tumblrina. Who can tell anymore?
The sad truth is, all of this “triggering” and subsequent anxiety attack foolishness has been (dare I say it) appropriated from the sexual abuse/PTSD treatment field, where it once served a useful purpose. But that Munchausen’s post sums it up nicely: people who want to be important have discovered they can get attention, sympathy, and ultimately power by adopting the trappings of the abused.
It’s probably all the volunteer work I’ve done in the field, but I can usually tell the difference between someone who’s acting out as a result of prior abuse and someone shilling for attention. What concerns me is I’m seeing fewer and fewer of the former. I fear that the tumblrettes are sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
