Underwater time-lapse. // Vespa rocking horse. // Roller coasters and chess. “As a capsule re-enters the atmosphere the air heats up around it due to friction and usually a high-temperature-resistant material is needed to absorb that. A magnetic field is able to deflect the hot atmospheric air away from the vehicle’s surface, reducing or eliminating the need for a heat-absorbing material.”

Cool. So everything in Star Trek will eventually be true… 🙂
“So everything in Star Trek will eventually be true.”
Well, I hope we avoid the socialist utopia bit and what that would imply. And the whole ‘let’s-get-taken-hostage-every-third-week’ thing. But I’d guess it’s only a matter of time before someone develops a piece of technology called a “cloaking device” that does what we think a cloaking device ought to do.
David, thanks for ‘I Claudius’ music -so evocative for me. A great series.
The time lapse is amazing.
Brian,
“A great series.”
It’s a damn good yarn. A triumph of storytelling over budget. There’s a 2002 documentary on the making of “I, Claudius”. It’s a bit luvvie at times but it includes some great scenes. (Augustus’ death stare, Livia’s final moments, a deranged Caligula…)

Thanks (again)!
Don’t you mean “I, Clavdivs”? 😉

DT, I think you’ll find this of interest.

AC1,
Thanks. The BuyTheTruth piece is interesting, but sources for each of the offending quotes would help.
