Since 1994, a Pakistani activist who founded the Progressive Women’s Association “has documented 7,800 cases of women who were deliberately burned, scalded or subjected to acid attacks, just in the Islamabad area. In only 2 percent of those cases was anyone convicted.”
When terrorism is personal.
A word of caution. The images are graphic and possibly distressing. Note how often the captions read “familial dispute” or “rejected him for marriage.”

So-called “crimes of honour”.
The phrase is said too often, but this really does beggar belief. Not just that it happens but that we stand by and let it happen. And when I say ‘we’ I also mean Western feminists, such as Germaine Greer (who went so far as to actually justify the mutilation of young Asian women).
Greer: “It’s very tricky. I am constantly being asked to go to Darfur to interview rape victims. I can talk to rape victims here. Why should I go to Darfur to talk to rape victims?”
Questioner: “Because it’s so much worse there.”
Greer: “Who says it is?”
Questioner: “I do, because I’ve been there.”
Greer: “Well, it is just very tricky to try to change another culture. We let down the victims of rape here. We haven’t got it right in our own courts. What good would it do for me to go over there and try to tell them what to do? I am just part of decadent Western culture and they think we’re all going to hell fast and maybe we are all going to hell fast.”

The decadent west is just as bad…
I fear the only way to convince our “betters” is to have it happen here. Coming soon.
“We cannot say there’s a huge number of cases, but now the cases are increasing, and very soon we’ll have a problem in Canada,” says Amin Muhammad… “A few women are really sacrificed to terrorize all women, to push them into submission, where they are not in the position to defend themselves or even their daughters or sisters,” Aysan Sev’er says…”In Canada, we have been extremely culturally sensitive, and that’s a good thing,” she says. “But in this particular case, we may have pushed the pendulum a little to the other side, in the sense that there are cultural components in these types of crimes which we cannot ignore.”

Absolutely sickening. The attacks are horrific and the 2% prosecution rate is simply depressing. Of all crimes, these should rank among the easiest to prosecute. Yet nothing happens.
The Burning of Innocence
We typically think of terrorism as a political act. But sometimes it’s very personal. It wasn’t a government or a…
